'Transmission from Vi - A Beautiful Day in Snallbourg (Snallbourg)'
Hello hello! I can’t believe this is my first transmission I’m broadcasting across universes! That Dex and Cam are really amazing. Anyway, I’m Vivian Fleur, but you can call me Vi. I’m from the town of Snallbourg, and gosh, after reading all of these other transmissions so far, I don’t know if this going to even compare to them. We don’t have superstitions of evil demons or mythologies of creators or anything, so I can’t really report on any lore. But I love to read and stay up-to-date in current events, so I’ll just keep you all updated on the cool news happening in Snallbourg. Consider me like your regular newsletter!
It’s September, which means it’s time for Snallbourg’s annual StarPopCon, which I am hyped for! Me and my friends Anastasia, Dylan, and Leenie always go there every year to get caught up in all the latest in pop culture, comics, superheroes, and all kinds of other sci-fi/fantasy nerd stuff! Leenie is more into the Ren Faire fantasies, and Dylan couldn’t really care less, but they both secretly love it. I hear that Captain Kohlberg, Agent 12, and the Blue Scar are going to be there in person to sign autographs! Now I know, I know, we’re all a little bit scared when a supervillain like the Blue Scar is in a public place, but he’s actually really nice! He’s my science teacher this year, and wow, is he the best teacher I’ve had! A little bit eccentric, but aren’t all science teachers? But what I’m really looking forward to is seeing this panel by none other than the Add-Libs! Me and my friends all love improv comedy, and getting to see Keegan, Megan, Ana, Avery, and Mick perform their mind-blowing shows live is gonna be awesome! I just bought tickets from Vic, our local store owner, so I know these are going to be quality!
The best thing about StarPopCon arriving is the fact that it’s marking the end of the tourist season (or at least a lull in it). Don’t get me wrong, I love getting to see people from all around the world see our home, but after a while, the people hogging the beach and all the good restaurants start to get to you. Maria and Gustav’s omelet bar in the Hotel Morrison is to die for, but you better be prepared for 30-minute lines at least if you’re thinking of going there in the summer. Autumn’s coming up, and it’s my favorite season, because it’s the one time where no one is coming to Snallbourg to either swim or ski. I can curl up with a good book at Jackie and Mark’s Word Webs bookstore, get a decaf latte from Belle at the café, and just curl up and enjoy life. I’m getting ahead of myself though. It’s not even October, and already I’m in the pumpkin spice mood. Sigh.
Now, once you get past the tourism and get into more local situations, there has been a controversy going on here in Snallbourg too. Mayor Junior just mentioned on the news that he was thinking about closing down the municipal skate park in the town hall area and replacing it. Now, I’m no skater, but I know a few people who are, and they’d be livid to find out the one good skate park in town is going away. With our boardwalk and sidewalks putting up more and more signs prohibiting skating, there’s almost no place for them to go anymore. And I know for a fact that Jaye Caldwell isn’t going to stand for it. If I know Jaye, they are going to be up in Junior’s face first thing tomorrow and gather all their on-the-edge friends. Jaye and Junior have been having an ongoing battle ever since the ordinance banning graffiti on the boardwalk, and Jaye hasn’t trusted him ever since. That’s all about that for now, but I hope things get cleared up soon. Me? I prefer to stay out of all that drama.
