Professor Camper (he/they) is a quirky scientist in charge of the Memory Library in DevCore.
History and origin
Professor Camper is one of the seven main foremen of DevCore, the organization in people's minds that control their growth and development. Camper is in charge of memory development and storage, such as the working memory, long-term memory, and short-term memory.
Camper is a nerdy, eccentric, and reclusive scientist and inventory who is always looking to invent new "devices" that help their hosts retain as many needed memories as possible. In the events of Ether, he has been working on inventing a memory machine that can travel throughout the past so whoever uses it can see the memories first hard. Camper is still working out the kinks and has gotten trapped in the machine once or twice.
General description
Like every DevCore Foreman, Professor Camper has a lightbulb for a head. Camper's light color is blue, and their lightbulb is long and thin. Camper wears golden reading glasses and a golden knotted belt around their waste. Their body is seahorse-shaped, and they have purple patches on the stubs where their arms would be. Their arms and bowtie are translucent wisps of blue and purple.

Development
## Inspiration and Creation Some time in late 2025, Adam DeVoix had gotten back in to point and click puzzle games; specifically, ones from Humongous Entertainment. Since about 2021 or 2022, he had a dream about a Pajama Sam type game that involved travelling through people's dreams. Since then, he had toyed with the idea of a mind based point-and-click game and developed the concept of Ether. Camper was one of the first characters he thought of for this series. His voice is inspired by that of Percival Pointer from the mystery point-and-click game, *Tangle Tower*. ## Design Professor Camper's body is deliberately seahorse-shaped. In French, the word for seahorse is *hippcampe*, which derives from *hippocampus*, the memory area of the brain. Camper wears a knotted belt similar to the knot that one would tie on their finger to remind themself of something. Camper's glasses, bowtie, and elbow patches coincide with the stereotypical professor look.Interestingly, not all DevCore Foremen were intended to have lightbulb heads: only Camper was planned to. Adam thought the lightbulb would be fitting for Camper because he worked with thoughts and ideas, but since that theme worked with every other foreman, Adam decided to extend it to all.
Etymology
Professor Camper's name is based off the hippocampus, the part of the brain that controls and deals with memory.
