The Nat Aberdeen's Sinister Recluse series (or Sinister Recluse, for short) is a collection of various written stories, characters, and audio dramas involving the small superstitious city-state of Plainwood and a mysterious entity known as the Sinister Recluse. A common theme throughout the series is the aversion of demonic Sinisters and of the left hand.

The Statue on Riverside

A young woman named Natalie has moved from the States to the superstitious city-state of Plainwood, with some sort of goal involving finding a person named Pritchett. However, in a village that abhors any usage of hands, especially the left one, Natalie is left struggling and fending for herself in figuring out how she can adjust to the culture shock--and the fear of being exorcised as a demon--while also meeting her goal.

• Nat Aberdeen's Incomplete Biography of Revenants Anthology: Plainwood 1 - The first official publication of Sinister Recluse that is still available online (an earlier draft was posted beforehand, but has since been taken down. Adam has intentions to repost it on his website).
• NAIBRA (PIlot) - An experimental pilot episode for an audiobook of the above story.
• The Statue on Riverside - 1 - First Impressions - A more serious episode of said audiobook, with some changes. This was the last official installment of The Statue on Riverside before Adam decided to put publishing it on hiatus so he could spend more time really revising and refining it into the story he wants it to be (which is also why he started publishing Arise and Awaken instead, as a way to fill the gaps and still use this universe)

Plainood, Arise and Awaken

A slice-of-life, episodic sitcom that showcases the regular goings-on, superstitious tendencies, and weird and archaic culture of Plainwood, taking place several years before The Statue on Riverside.

• 1 - Observation - The first of the series, introducing new viewers to the city-state of Plainwood, its main characters, and their superstitions. Eileen Pritchett is scheduled for an observation of a lesson, and she takes it a bit too far.

Notable Characters

Eileen Pritchett

A dry and sarcastic teacher from Plainwood who has no concept of consequences and will anything if it means fulfilling a certain goal. However, she will never be the first to act upon any of her ideas, thoughts, or actions, and hates to take a risk if she doesn't 100% know what the outcome will be (which is why she always picks on her cousin Matt).

Natalie Aureole

A calm yet mysterious young woman from the States who has moved to Plainwood. She is awkward and has trouble managing her emotions but genuinely wants to be the best person she can be.

Vivian Fay

A caring yet headstrong doctor who is the only person in Plainwood, along with Eileen, not to believe in Sinisters or possession. As much as she cares about the wellbeing of her fellow townspeople and the advancement of Plainwood to the modern world, she can't help but spite everyone who won't even entertain the idea of modern medicine.

Matt Kennett

One of the three mayors of Plainwood. He is the only one who is actually passionate about his job and keeping Plainwood safe and happy, but has a lot of trouble in trying to find the fair balance between "safe" and "happy." Matt has a huge heart and hates to see people suffer, but because of this, he is often taken advantage of.

Morgan Bailey

A jovial and absentminded woman from the States who loves to go with the flow and has quickly accepted the weirdness of Plainwood as just another culture and quirk. She loves to explore new things and do whatever her friends are doing.

Patrick Wells

A laid-back and witty teacher who considers Plainwood a combination of his second home and a vacation spot where nothing has any consequences. He is often the voice of reason among the group, which is saying a lot, considering how often he wants to be left alone and how his ideas may not be the most moral.

Dawn Fay-Simone

The kind and obedient owner of the Everoak Café and Inn who loves everyone equally and hates to get involved in conflict.

Kyle Ling

A highly passionate and ethically questionable man who will do nothing to keep his hometown of Plainwood safe and demon-free.

Archibald West and Cliffe Rhubis

The two bumbling co-mayors of Matt Kennett who don't really take their job too seriously and are making everything up as they go along.

Anon Denouement

A way-in-over-his head writer and podcaster who has practically been thrown into Plainwood against his will to act as Matt Kennett's paranormal investigator and substitute mayor to make all the hard decisions for him. Anon is an eccentric man who doesn't really take himself or others seriously, but when it comes to his job, he will not quit until he has finished 100%.

Jordon Daly

The unsettlingly chipper voice behind the Plainwood Public Radio show, Plainwood, Arise and Awaken. They are considered the prime example of the Plainwood citizen, having traditionalist beliefs in spirits and demons and an unresolved spite towards their mayors--and many other people, for that matter. But just like a good Plainwooder, Jordon takes care to swallow all that spite and put on a joyous attitude and avoid anything that would give them a bad reputation.
