Inspiration and Creation
Casque and Ether, and several other characters from the Ether series are based on some of the very first characters/writings that Adam DeVoix had drawn. Most of the characters from the Ether series were designed similarly: characters Adam made up long, long ago who he had not done anything with until the initial conception of Ether around 2021 or 2022.
Design
Casque was designed to be a combination "thinking cap" and camera. Her face was designed to be viewfinder goggles that Ether could wear to take pictures of everyday things and invent something new from them. The color scheme was taken from a random color palette generator, and the yellow and purple seemed to be a nice complement to each other. The pink lightbulbs were a reference to DevCore Foremen all having lightbulb heads and her proximity to Ether as one. The pink lightbulbs are of course a reference to Ether's lightbulb color.
Etymology
The name Casque derives literally from the French word of the same name, which translates to "helmet."
