'(7th) Rocktrotter's Research'
Prologue: A Desperate Emergency
Percy goes out to check the mail when they receive an invite to Whoozitt Council, the capitol building of Mertzen. Surprised, they go as soon as they can. Meanwhile, Whoozitt, the chancellor of Mertzen is holding a very important meeting. There are guest speakers such as Dr. Jelaatio; Dr. Flint Grantley, chemist and doctor of disease and medicine; and Yvette, the president of the Ethnic Animal Society, Mertzen Town Branch. They are all discussing one thing: A PLAGUE!
“Calm down, calm down everyone!” says Chancellor Whoozitt, “I know you’re all anxious to discuss this but we must introduce ourselves. I’m Whoozitt, chancellor of Mertzen.” “I am Doctor Flint Grantley,” says Doctor Flint Grantley, “I am a chemist.” “I am Jelaatio,” says who do you think, “I have been researching this plague for a while but haven’t found anything.” Whoozitt remarks, “We’re still missing Nokka, Plainsworth, and his brother. Where could they be?” “Sorry we’re late! We just now received the letter,” says Plainsworth, “Where were we?” “We were just getting started. I guess we’ll have to start without Nokka,” says Whoozitt, “Anyway, several Rocktrotters have been diagnosed with a disease we are calling Monnellelitis. Its symptoms are…” Plainsworth whispers to Grantley, “Hey, who’s that girl across from me?” “That’s Yvette. President of the Animal Safety Society.” “Wow… she’s just… wow…” Whoozitt says, “… and THAT is why we must stop this right away!”
Nokka finally comes in and says, “Sorry I’m late. This place is a maze” “Nokka, you’ve finally arrived,” remarks Whoozitt. Nokka says, “What were we talking about?” Just then, Slasher busts in. “Sorry I’m late. I seem to have lost my invitation. Be lucky I came here at all. YOU! Outta the way, grandpa! Plainsworth!!! Those last 6 adventures. I SHOULD HAVE WON!!!” He engages you to a practice battle. You win. He leaves. Nokka isn’t feeling too well. They take them to the Jelaatio Clinic right away.
Jelaatio examines him. “He does not appear to have any Monnellitis symptoms. It looks like a stomach virus, but not one I’ve seen before. Nokka, what did you eat or drink today?” “Well, I had this fruit punch sort of thing Dr. Grantley gave me–” “STOP RIGHT THERE! Flint is a chemist. Did the punch have any sort of X or skull-and-crossbones on it?” “There was a label that had an N on it. I assume it stood for ‘Nokka.’” “Nokka, please. Come with me into my office. Oh, by the way, Plainsworth, your pet Groggly is done his checkup. Just sign this right here and he’ll be with you right away.” The form has a name box and five different colors. You can choose its name and its color. For now, I’ll just call him “Groggly.” Grantley comes back. “Mr. Nokka, you don’t appear to be in any danger so far. Just be sure not to be in any excitement. Why not take a walk or something. Sycamore Fields is a nice place to go. Plainsworth, Percy, stay here.
Chapter 1: Sick-a-More Fields
Nokka goes walking to Sycamore Fields with Groggly. Nokka says, “I don’t think that’s true, Groggly.” Groggly says, “What’s not true?” “That Dr. Grantley gave me some sort of poison. I’ve known him for years.” “Well. Have you ever stopped to consider… THAT MAYBE THAT GLASS WASN’T FOR YOU?!” “Well what could it have been for? It had an N on it, and if it had a virus, why bring it to a meeting ABOUT a virus?” “Do I look like I know everything? Wow, these plants are really nice.” A Jelaato barges in and says, “AND YOU’RE STANDIN’ RIGHT IN ‘EM!!!” Groggly says, “Oh, sorry sir. We weren’t really looking where we were going.” “Alright. Fine, den. Just don’t do it in da future, though. And… ay! Wait. You guys are friends of da two heroes of Mertzen, right?” “Yes, yes we are.” “GREAT! Dere’s a giant fortress in the center of Lake Juniper. It’s messin’ up da park! Can you do somefin’ about it?” Nokka says, “Well, my doctor said no excitement for a while.” “Aw come one! I’ll pay ya!” “WE’RE IN!” “But how can I test to see if you guys’re strong enough? AY I KNOW! How about a little battle? If ya beat me, you’re in!” And you beat him. The man says, “Great! You got da job. I’m Brock, by the way.” And he walks away.
