Prologue: Wedding Crash

And so we start off another adventure right! But where are we? In Crystal Temple! Why? And why is everyone dressed up so formally? Well, if you recall from CORE’s ending, Plainsworth and Yvette proposed to each other at the same time. So here they are getting married! Plainsworth’s brother Percy is there, Yvette’s father Heath and his assistant Flint is there, even Plainsworth’s parents showed up! What could ever go wrong at this time? Flint leans over to Heath and says, “You’re not crying?! It’s your daughter’s big day!” Heath says, “Why would I cry? Once I lost Heather, I’ve reached the epitome of sadness. Plus, it’s not like Yvette’s leaving me forever. It’s not like we’re at her funeral or something.” “You truly are a great father.” “I know. Can you believe it’s finally happening? I’m excited. Plainsworth will finally be my son-in-law.” “Yep. I still can’t believe we managed to get everything planned for the reception to actually happen. How can all that happen in two weeks?!” “A lot can happen in two weeks. 1,209,600 seconds go by really quickly. It felt so recently.” FLASHBACK TWO WEEKS AGO!!!

Two weeks ago, Plainsworth and Percy are at their house. Percy says to Plainsworth, “So, ready for your big day in two weeks?” Plainsworth says, “I am totally excited! This is gonna be great!” “That’s great. Excuse me for a second.” He goes into the other room and opens up his laptop, with Heath on videochat. Percy says, “How’s the reception coming along?” Heath says, “Great. You’ll never guess what band I got to play.” “Who?” “The Azure Waves!” “Cool! So, is everything ready?” “Pretty much. Of course, something ALWAYS happens. I recommend just a little sparring practice, you know.” “Yeah, but I don’t want anything to happen.” “But just in case. I’ll train with Grantley, too.” “Alright.” He exits the room and goes back to Plainsworth. He tells him to have a practice battle just in case. They do. Tutorial boss! Once you beat him, let’s travel over to Ice Palace to see Heath, Flint, and Yvette. Heath does the same practice battle with Grantley. After that, Heath says, “Where’s Yvette?” Flint says, “In her room, trying on her dress.” “Eh, wouldn’t want her wearing that too often before the wedding. Don’t want it getting all worn out. Anyway… I guess that’s it, so we’ll just have to wait two weeks until the wedding.” TWO WEEKS LATER. Heath says, “GRANTLEY! WAKE UP! IT’S TODAY!” Flint wakes up and says, “Whuh?! TODAY?!” “YES! AND WE’RE SUPPOSED TO BE THERE IN 15 MINUTES!” “Well let’s get going!” Meanwhile, at Crystal Temple. Percy says, “Where are Heath and Flint? They should be here by now.” Heath and Flint come in. Flint says, “Sorry we’re late. We sort of overslept. So… what’d we miss?” Percy says, “Nothing much. Just setting up right now.” Heath says, “Great. Now let’s wait.” And they wait.

Fast-forward back to the actual wedding. We return right after Heath says, “A lot can happen in two weeks. 1,209,600 seconds go by really quickly. It felt so recently.” Now the music plays, and Plainsworth walks up. Then a few seconds pass, and Yvette walks up. Gregory from Corona Plank is at the stand. He does a little speech that no one cares about. Skip to the interesting part. He says, “Plainsworth Rockbell, do you take Yvette Monnelley to be your wife?” As soon as he opens his mouth, someone bursts in the room. It’s a strange hooded person. They go up to the podium and grabs a hold of Yvette. Gregory says, “Oh my. HALT strange hooded figure!” The hooded figure doesn’t halt. Plainsworth says, “I’ll take care of this. C’mere!” And you fight the person. PROLOGUE BATTLE! After you beat them, they run off. Yvette is still in hand. Soon enough, both are gone. Greg says, “Is… is that it? What just happened?” Plainsworth’s best man, Beck steps up and says, “That’s rough dude. She was pretty hot too.” Plainsworth looks and him and says, “You’re not helping.” Percy says, “So what are we gonna do?” Plainsworth says, “What CAN we do? She was kidnapped by a random person who we have no idea who they are or where they went or why they want Yvette. There is literally nowhere to start here. I’m just gonna be in the other room.” And he leaves. Flint says, “Out of all my months of knowing Plainsworth, this is the worst I’ve seen him.” Heath says, “Can you blame him? He just lost his soon-to-be wife. I can relate. I lost my wife too.” Percy says, “Well we can’t just stand here and wait for him to cheer up.” Heath says, “I’ve got this.” He goes over to Plainsworth and says, “Listen. I don’t care if you have no idea what to do now. YOU LOST YOUR WIFE! She’s not just gonna randomly come back after sitting there for a couple hours. YOU ARE PLAINSWORTH! You saved several countries, you saved what is basically God, you’ve revived your own father, and you’ve even stopped a contagious epidemic made by ME! If something as small as a kidnapping is going to stop you, you are not the Plainsworth I know! Now go out there and save my daughter, your wife, your brother’s sister-in-law, and Grantley’s… umm… well Grantley helps me with her. SO GET UP! GET OUT THERE! GO FIND HER!” Plainsworth stands up and says, “You’re right! We’re gonna go and find her if it’s the last thing we do!” “Wait, we?” “She’s YOUR daughter, Heath! You have as much incentive of finding her as I do!” “RIGHT! Grantley! Come with us, we shall look for my daughter together!” Percy comes over and says, “I’m glad everyone has agreed to help. Now… where should we start?” “Plainsworth says, “I think I have a hunch.”

Chapter 1: I Have a Hunch

The four go onto to Mertzen Trail. Why? To go to Slasher Castle! But first they run into a Giant Porcu! FIRST LEGITIMATE BOSS BATTLE! However, since it’s covered in spikes, they only way to attack it is by interacting with outside events on the battlefield. There’s really nothing else to do in Mertzen Trail, so they enter the threshold to Slasher Castle. Plainsworth yells, “SLASHER!” Slasher turns away from what he was doing and says, “Well well well. Look who it is. Mr. Rockbell, Mr. Other Rockbell, and the two plague starters. What brings you here?” “Don’t play dumb Slasher. Where’s Yvette?” “Yvette? Yvette, Yvette, Yvette… she’s that girl you’re marrying right?” “Yes.” “Well, what about her?” “Where is she?” “Is she not with you?” “No. She was kidnapped, and I had a feeling you were behind this.” “Whoa, whoa, wait. Weren’t you supposed to marry her today? WHAT KIND OF MONSTER WOULD KIDNAP A BRIDE ON HER WEDDING?! Even I’M not that evil. Any other day, I probably would though. Well maybe I should incorporate honeymooning and such, so you COULD expect me to do something like that maybe two months after, but DEFINITELY not today. Who would DO that?!” “So you’re saying it WASN’T you?” “OF COURSE NOT! Do you have any clues?” “No we just started here.” “Hmm… I really have no reason to help you. Then again, I have no reason not to. Plus it is the wife of the hero of Mertzen… FINE! I will aid you in this quest. Now… what did this perpetrator look like?” Heath says, “No idea. They wore a big hood and I think they had long green hair.” “Green hair? Well I have NO clue who that might be. Maybe… maybe SHE will.” Percy says, “Who?” “Ciara. Guardian of Unity and Society. She knows a lot about people. Maybe we can ask her, but she lives at the top of Cauldron Mountain.” Plainsworth says, “So you’re actually helping us?” “Yeah, whatever. Now let’s go!” And they head to Cauldron Mountain.

But they actually fight with Slasher first because, why not? So after that, they travel to a flat area with small puddles of geysers, sulfur, and lava. But this is really just a pathway to Cauldron Mountain. Nothing plot-related here. Eventually, they reach the base of Cauldron Mountain. They meet with a short man with a skull mask over his face. He says, “Ooooooooh!!!! Visitors! HaHA! Welcome to my homeland. I am the great shaman and witch doctor! You may call me Wilhelm. NOW TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT OR GO AWAY!” Slasher says, “Nice costume bub, but we really need to speak with Ciara.” “COSTUME?! I am a legitimate witch doctor! These berries with me are said to have healing properties! Or they’re poisonous. But whatever. I am truly real! A real shaman! A real witch doctor! But I digress. Ciara, you say? I know not of a Ciara.” Plainsworth says, “Guardian of Society?” “Guardian! HA! Stelleism is stupid! I worship the great gods of Hao, Rush, and Val. I know of a Bodahma if you’re interested.” Heath says, “Listen, I’m not a Stelleist either, but we need to find this Ciara to help find my kidnapped daughter! So the least you can do is help!” Wilhelm looks around and says, “Hmm… I have nothing you could possibly be interested in to help you.” Slasher says, “Gee. You were a big help. I guess we’ll just have to climb this entire volcano searching for one person who could be anywhere. I sure wish we had someone who could concoct medicine to make us feel stronger.” Wilhelm perks up and says, “Fine! I shall come with. But DON’T think I’ll be here forever. Just for this volcano.” He says, but it’s not true, as he is now our FIRST PARTNER!

They keep climbing up the mountain. Wilhelm states, “We’re never going to find this Ciara. This mountain is huge!” Plainsworth says, “We know what we’re doing.” They eventually reach the summit of the mountain. They see an Egyptian-pharaoh-like woman standing and humming.” Heath says to her, “Excuse me miss. Do you know where we can find Guardian of Society, Ciara?” She looks at them and says, “I am.” “Oh. Can we speak with you?” “Surely. What do you need?” Plainsworth says, “My wife was kidnapped right before the wedding.” Ciara says, “Sorry to hear that. I’d love to help.” “Great! How?” She starts to speak and then frowns and stops talking. She says, “I wish there was something I could do. But I don’t know anything unless there are clues. I don’t know your wife and I don’t know her kidnapper. I’m sorry.” Wihelm comes out and says, “WE CLIMBED THIS MOUNTAIN JUST TO GET SAGE ADVICE THAT SAYS YOU DON’T KNOW?!” Ciara says, “I try as best as I can.” Wilhelm says, “This was stupid. I should have just stayed down in Cauldron Badlands. I wanna take my rage out on someone. MAYBE THE SOMEONE WHO TRICKED ME INTO CLIMBING UP HERE!” He fights the group. CHAPTER 1 BATTLE! Because Chapter 1 is this short. Wilhelm faints and says, “I apologize. That was… I’m sorry.” Ciara says, “Listen, I would love to help you, but there is nothing I can do as of now. Go look for clues. No one can do something and be undetected. They always leave a trail.” Plainsworth says, “Can you help us with it?” “I’ll always be here in case you need small hints on where to go or what to do next. My recommendation: find a meeting place, split up, and search for clues. What did this kidnapper look like?” “A cloaked person with long green hair.” “Oh… that may be very easy to find, but I know no one of that description. Now go. As much as I’d love to help, I must stay here and keep watch on the people. Farewell.” And they climb down the mountain. Everyone is disappointed that this first chapter was a complete waste of time.

Chapter 1 Interlude

Meanwhile, let’s take a look at what’s going on with Yvette. She wakes up in a small room. It doesn’t look threatening, though. Actually quite comfortable. A small table and chair, a couple posters, and a large bed. Yvette thinks to herself, “Where am I? More important question: Why does this room look so inviting?” A young girl in her early 20s, maybe two years younger than Yvette, walks in. Yvette says, “Umm… hello. Who are you?” The girl says, “Oh yay! You’re awake! Mornin’! My name’s Melanie! You must be Yvette, right?” “Yeah…” “Great. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I knew it was either then or never to kidnap you. Now we can be BESTIES!” “What?” “Come downstairs. I made breakfast!” She walks down, suspiciously. She sees a large array of any type of breakfast food you can think of. Melanie says, “I wasn’t sure what you like, so I made a whole buffet. Help yourself!” Yvette picks at the food and says, “What is even going on right now?” “I made you breakfast to commemorate our first day as BFFs. Take whatever you want.” “That’s fine, I’m not really very hungry right now.” “You think I tampered with it, don’t you? Tell you what, whatever you have, I’ll have too, to assure you it’s safe.” “Why are you being so nice to me? Didn’t you kidnap me?” “Now I wouldn’t be a good hostess if I didn’t welcome you properly, would I? I’ll be right back. Help yourself to the couches, TV, and anything in the fridge!” And she leaves, but Yvette is hopelessly confused.

Meanwhile, back at Slasher Castle. Slasher says, “Well… we just wasted 4 hours of our life!” Heath says, “Ciara brought up some good tips though. Let’s find clues and establish a meeting place.” Plainsworth says, “He’s right. Let’s split up and look in different places to find any clues.” Slasher says, “Alright. How about we split up and look in different places to find any clues. Good idea! Glad I thought of it. Meeting place? I mean, this place is quite a hassle to get to, so somewhere else… Glamville!” Plainsworth says, “Glamville! Okay. Large, in the center of the country, and very easy to get to. Let’s meet there!” “Okay! Let’s go!” They go to Glamville, a large city that’s not only rich and glitzy, but very friendly. But before they head to the next area, they bump into someone…

Well, actually they come across a house with someone from the inside banging on the door. The person inside says, “Don’t ask how, but I locked myself inside! Is there anyone outside who can open the door?!” Slasher reluctantly opens it. A teenage-looking boy falls out. He says, “AH! Thanksy! I was reinstalling that door and must’ve put the lock part on the outside. I’m Cole by the way. Cole… like the slaw. Mmm… coleslaw…” Heath says, “Nice meeting you, but we’re sort of in the middle of an important investigation.” “INVESTIGATION?! I’d love to help!” Plainsworth says, “We don’t really need a lot of help from strangers. Can you tell us any place that’d be nice for someone to rendezvous?” Cole says, “Whoa, wait, STRANGER?! I happen to be a Guardian! If anyone were to help you, it would be ME!” Percy says, “Guardian? In that case…” Cole says, “Yep. Bet’cha are rethinkin’ now, aren’t’cha? I happen to be the Guardian of Thought. I can read minds and travel through people’s minds. Why WOULDN’T you want someone like me?” Plainsworth says, “That actually might be helpful. Alright Cole. You can come with. But I don’t think we can stall any longer. Yvette’s life may be at stake by now.” Cole says, “Mmm… steaks… Oh. Sorry. I was just… thinking. So who’s this Yvette?” “She’s my wife. She was kidnapped by a mysterious hooded person.” “Cool. What’s she like?” “Well, she’s very intelligent and kind and–” “Maybe when we save her we can have a celebratory barbecue.” “She’s vegan.” “I have completely lost respect for her. I don’t wanna save her now.” “C’mon! Your power could be REALLY helpful!” “FINE! I demand pay though?” “How much?” “Meat. Unlimited and unimaginable meats. But we’ll discuss pay later. TO THE SAVING!”

Chapter 2: The Blitz Telethon

They enter a vacant house. Slasher says, “I rented a place outside of the Cauldron region because in case you didn’t realize, lava is hot. Here we are. It’s not much, but it’s home.” Plainsworth says, “So… where to go now?” Slasher says, “I don’t know. Blitz Arena.” “Why?” “How many times have you been to a Blitz-related place on any of your adventures? It’d be surprising if something ISN’T there.” Heath says, “But the train there takes three days. What if there’s nothing there? We would waste at least six days!” Slasher, “Huh. Well… How about this: If there IS something there, you can have a six day vacation period.” Flint says, “That’s not a consolation, we’re wasting time either way.” Slasher says, “WELL WHATEVER! We’ll get the Rockbells to go to another place at the same time, so not A LOT OF TIME IS WASTED! Whatever! HEATH! FLINT! BLITZ ARENA! ROCKBELL! Stay. I’ll find a place…”

Heath and Flint travel to Blitz Arena. But of course, they need to go to Blitz Plains and take the train. Nothing really happens, until they run into Nevada. Nevada says, “Ugh. I thought this desert would’ve been… you know… DESERTED! Ah, screw it. What brings you two here?” Heath says, “We’re just looking around.” “Looking? For what? It’s a freakin’ desert!” “Clues. You see, my daughter got kidn–” “Oh, your HER father?! Yeah, I heard about the Yvette kidnapping during the wedding. Tragic. Not too tragic though. Well, I mean, she did help save the entire world. Ah, whatever. So let me guess: You’re searching for clues about the kidnapper.” “Yes.” “And your first impulse was to check the DESERT?” “Well, actually the arena.” “Oh good idea. They’re broadcasting a live telethon there. If you were to somehow get on the air, you could inform everyone about it.” “Good idea! What’d you say your name was?” “I didn’t. My name is Nevada. God of wisdom and whatever. Helped the Rockbells and others save the entire planet.” Flint says, “Rockbells? You know them?” “Yep. Unfortunately… Oh that’s right, the blue one’s marrying Yvette. I guess he’s looking for clues too. I don’t see any reason to help him.” Heath says, “We never said we needed you.” “Well in THAT case, I’m going on vacation! Finally, I’m NOT plot-related! YES! I needed a break. But… you guys ARE going to the arena, right?” “Yeah.” “There are some toughies there. Ya may wanna practice up.” They all stand there in awkward silence for a couple seconds. Nevada says, “Oh, you though I was gonna help you practice? Nah. Good luck!” They all stand there for a couple seconds. Nevada says, “Screw it, I got nothing else to do. C’mon, let’s get this over with.” They fight. The scientists win. Nevada says, “Alright, you’re fine. Have fun, and don’t come back to me.” He leaves. The scientists move on to Blitz Arena.

They get to the entrance, and there is a lot of sound and video equipment being moved around. Rokko is outside monitoring everything. He says, “Can cameras 1 and 4 be moved a little to the left? Perfect! Oh! I should check on the inside!” He runs into the arena. Heath and Flint are curious as to what’s going on. They enter the arena and follow Rokko. Rokko is in the center of the battlefield, signaling people on scaffoldings. He says, “Maybe put the sign a little higher. To the left a little… aaaaaaannnnd……… THERE! STOP, DON’T MOVE IT!” Heath taps on Rokko’s shoulder, and Rokko gets startled and jumps. He says, “AH! Can’t you see I’m in the middle of arranging something here?! Sorry… I didn’t mean to yell at you. I just have a combination of excitement and anxiety. See, Blitz is getting ready for its next season, and it’s gonna be HUGE! But it being huge requires money, so we’re setting up a telethon. And I really want it to turn out right.” Heath says, “Any way we can help?” “Oh, no, you’re just random viewers and… now that I think of it, random viewers shouldn’t be allowed here.” A voice comes out of nowhere and says, “And so they shouldn’t.” Rokko sees the person who made the voice and says, “Administrator Goldman. What a surprise! What brings you here?” Goldman makes an angry face and says, “Oh… just here to check up on our channel’s biggest most popular show. What are you up to now?” “Oh, well, we are currently raising funds for Blitz’s next season!” “Mm-hmm. And… that’s it?” “What do you mean that’s it? We’re just having a telethon to get enough money to–” “To get enough money for yourselves. Mr. Blitzkrieg, allow me to recite page 134, paragraph 6 of subheading #7 of the 2nd chapter of our channel’s rules and guidelines book.” “Oh no, here we go.” “It says right here, and I quote: ‘If any show on Channel 73, SM Entertainment, were to set up a telethon or a similar-type fundraiser, said fundraiser must raise money or at least awareness to a certain charity or cause.’ Mr. Blutzkrieg, I believe you have just broken this rule.” “But we–” “I don’t care. You will have 48 hours to fix this. If not, Blitz’s 7th season will be cancelled until further notice. Have fun figuring this one out. Oh, look at the time! I have an appointment with the producers of a new fall sitcom. Who knows? If all goes well, it may replace your show. The time is ticking Rokko. Act quickly.” And he leaves. Rokko says, “Well… Guess you two need to help me out now.”

Heath says, “Well… we really need to broadcast ourselves as soon as we can.” Rokko says, “Why? Never mind that. I got an idea. How about we do it in secret?!” “But maybe what I would’ve said could’ve been a good cause to raise money for.” “What is it?” “My daughter was kidnapped. If we could broadcast that as a cause, your boss would allow the telethon.” “Yeah, but he won’t be back for another 48 hours.” “Can’t we do it anyway?” “Well, I hide things from him all the time. Yeah, let’s do that.” He walks up to his megaphone and says, “Attention everyone! The telethon is back on! And we need to start it ASAP! C’mon! C’mon! Pick up the pace!” He walks back to Heath and Flint and says, “Well that’s that. Our telethon will be on air in a few minutes, but unfortunately, no unauthorized people are allowed in the stadium floor. You’ll have to stay out here for now. Feel free to explore and look for clues about your daughter.” And Rokko leaves. Heath sees someone with green hair run away swiftly. He says to Flint, “What did that hooded perpetrator look like?” Flint says, “All we know is the green hair.” “That’s what I though. Follow me.” They walk over to the green-haired man. Heath says, “You there!” The man looks around and says, “Ehh? What do you want?!” “What do you know about a kidnapping?” The man pauses for a while and then runs away.” They follow him. The man says, “STOP FOLLOWING ME! It’s very rude, you know!” Heath says, “Can you just answer our question?” “Ehh… why do you wanna know?” “Because my daughter was kidnapped by a green-haired person.” The man pauses for a second. And then he starts attacking them. BOSS BATTLE! You win. He says, “I DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT A KIDNAPPING! Plus… I DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR DAUGHTER! AND ANOTHER THING! This brace on my neck makes it so I can’t leave this desert area. And I HIGHLY doubt your daughter was in this desert area.” Heath says, “Very well. You’re still one of our suspects though.” “Have fun having a red herring as a suspect.” Rokko comes in and says, “LANLEY! Don’t talk with the guests! Back to your room!” He turns to Heath and Flint and says, “Sorry about that. Lanley can be a little rogue. Oh! Just remembered. Someone on the phone requested they would donate 500 Diamonds if they saw a random person fight Blitzi Fan. That random person is you. HAVE FUN IN THE ARENA!”

They go in and fight Blitzi whether like it or not. Blitzi comes in and shouts, “YAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!! YOU READY TO BLITZ?!?!?!?!?!??! Ah. No cheers. Well that’s what happens when there’s no live audience. So who am I fighting?!” Heath and Flint raise their hands. Blitzi says, “Well nice to meet’cha. Now I don’t wanna seem superior to you, but I hope you know I’ve never been anyplace other than the top 5 in Blitz’s leaderboard. Just sayin’. BUT ASIDE FROM THAT, LET’S GO!” Heath whispers to Flint, “Hey. That guy has green hair, doesn’t he?” But before Flint says anything, the battle starts. You beat him and he says, “Ahh. I was goin’ easy on ya!” Heath says, “Wait, can I ask something?” “Hit me!” “What do you know about a kidnapping?” “I heard about that one in that one wedding. But I don’t know anyone there.” Flint whispers over to Heath, “The kidnapper’s hair was green all over. This guy has green and orange.” Heath says, “Ah. Well. Sorry for the trouble.” Just then, a large man comes busting in. He says, “WHO’S THE PERSON WHO THINKS THEY CAN BEAT BLITZI WITHOUT ANY TRAINING?!” Heath says, “Ahh. That would be us.” “WELL! IT APPEARS THAT SOMEONE WITH THAT STRENGTH WOULD WANT TO FIGHT THE GREAT GRIFF, RIGHT?!” “I’m sorry, but we’re just trying to look for clues and broadcast ourselves. We don’t really wanna fight if we don’t have to.” “YOU’RE DARN RIGHT YOU DON’T WANNA FIGHT ME! ‘CAUSE YOU’RE WEAK! WEAK, FEEBLE, AND–” Rokko comes in and says, “Good news! I got a call saying they’d donate 950 Diamonds if they see you two fight Griff.” Griff says, “WELL, WELL, WELL! LOOKS LIKE I GOT FRESH MEAT NOW!” And he fights you. After dealing enough ATK on him, you eventually lose. Griff says, “PATHETIC! CONSIDER TRAINING, THEN WE TALK!” Rokko says, “Sorry about that, but we need the money. I mean… uh… our ‘cause’ needs the money. Oh! Speaking of which, if you wanna broadcast yourselves, now’s the time to do it!” They go up. But are soon interrupted.

“BLITZKRIIIIIEEEEG!!!!!” Shouts an Administrator Goldman. Rokko sees him and says, “Ah… Mr. Admin sir. You’re back early. How’s the sitcom?” “Awful. I’d rather watch preschoolers in it than those buffoons. DON’T CHANGE THE SUBJECT! What did I tell you about the telethon?!” Heath steps up and says, “IT WASN’T HIS FAULT!” Goldman says, “Well. Whose fault was it?” “Ours. We thought there we could continue it with a cause we found without asking you.” “Well whoever you are should be ashamed of yourselves.” “We understand. Feel free to ban us or other punishments.” “I’m glad you agree. Rokko, I hope you don’t mind.” Rokko says, “Mmm? Oh, you mean a battle? Umm… sure. Make them practice up.” Flint says, “I don’t think attacking random viewers is part of the regulations!” But before he could make a point, the battle starts. CHAPTER 2 BATTLE. Before the battle starts, Goldman sets a rule. If that rule is broken, he will damage you immensely. After you beat him, he says, “I hope you’ve learned your lesson. But now that I think of it, I don’t think that was in the regulations. Well. I am sorry. BUT WHATEVER! Battle or not, you broke the rules, Rokko! Explain yourself!” Heath says, “LISTEN! We DID have a cause.” “Really? What for?” “For my daughter who was kidnapped during her wedding.” “Oh? That… is a worthy cause. I apologize. Please, if you wish to broadcast yourselves and spread awareness, feel free. This was a whole misunderstanding. Rokko, you may go on with your telethon. As for me, I have a new drama to watch and puke my eyes out. Until next time, I will see Blitz in its 7TH SEASON!” Heath and Flint go up to the stadium and grab a microphone. Heath says, “Attention anyone watching this! I would like to say something. My name is Heath Matthew Monnelley. I am a scientist and the father of a woman who just got kidnapped on her wedding day. We don’t know who did this or why or where they went. But this is serious. Please. Anyone out there should be on the lookout. And Yvette, if you are out there and watching this, I just want you to know. Plainsworth, Percy, Grantley, and I are trying as best as we can. We miss you very much, and we would give anything to have you back. Thank you.” And he steps off. They leave the stadium and return to Glamville.

Chapter 2 Interlude

Meanwhile, back with Yvette. Melanie says, “Wakey-wakey, Yvette! It’s a brand new day, and I’ve got a whole plan for us!” Yvette says, “Melanie… why are you doing this? You kidnapped me, yet you’re being incredibly nice to me. What do you have planned?” “Well, first we’ll go out and get some breakfast, then we’re gonna go to that new water park, and then–” “I mean why did you kidnap me?” “Umm… can you excuse me for a second? Feel free to use the TV until I get back.” And she runs into the bathroom. Yvette goes into the TV room and turns on the TV. She says to herself, “I guess I’ll make myself at home for now.” She flips to channel 73 at the exact time Heath makes his announcement. She says to herself, “Dad? Oh my gosh, he’s actually on TV and raising awareness for me. Thank you so much!”

Chapter 3: Riding the Waves

Back at Glamville, Slasher is sitting and waiting. He says, “Come ON Heath! We were waiting for SIX days! Where were you?” Heath says, “For your information, we broadcasted ourselves countrywide.” “Well done. You deserve a vacation” Flint says, “We just started.” “Yeah, but Plainsworth and I are scouting out for clues and don’t need your interruption. Why not go over to that new water park in the east? Aqua City, is it called?” Heath says, “You want us to not work?” “Yeah, you deserve it. Plus, there could be clues there.” “So, we’re not really taking a vacation.” “Who cares? Go and do the thing!”

They enter the water park. Heath says, “I really don’t think Slasher is taking this seriously. I mean, c’mon! A WATER PARK?! Why would a kidnapper even GO to a water park?” Flint says, “Does it matter? We’re still looking for clues. Aaaannnd, look over there. Isn’t that that angry Porcu mechanic that Plainsworth is always talking about?” They approach him, and he says, “WHAT DO YOU WANT?!” Heath says, “Calm down, buddy. We’re just looking around.” “Uh-huh. For what?” “Clues for my missing daughter and Plainsworth’s wife.” “PLAINSWORTH?! You KNOW him?! I didn’t actually think he had FRIENDS! Well… you know… I always have this sort of tradition where I fight him. Since he’s not around, guess you’ll have to do.” Obligatory battle with Torque. After you beat him, he says, “So… what’cha lookin’ for?” Heath says, “Just clues.” “Well THAT helps. Actually, now that I think of it… the owners of this park seem very suspicious. And they did when they asked me to build this. I wonder what the deal with them is. But whatevs. I got nuttin’ else to do. How’s about I help you?” “Don’t you have work?” “Nah! I try to get out of it as much as possible. But I don’t know where the owners work. This place is so huge, it’s hard to find anything.” Just then, a familiar looking man comes up. He says, “¡Hola! Welcome to Aqua City. Can I aid you with anything?” Heath says, “No, just looking around. We’re looking for clues about my missing daughter. Know anything about anyone named Yvette Monnelley?” The man pauses for a while and then says, “No… No I haven’t. But I’ll keep you updated if I do. In the meantime, please get a locker so any precious belongings won’t be lost in this place. So until we meet again, adiós.” They leave. The man takes out a walkie-talkie and says, “Dawn, Mort, Iggy, it appears we have a Monnelley on our hands…”

Heath and Flint go to their lockers. Heath says, “Do we really need a locker if we’re not actually playing in the park?” Torque says, “If you paid for tickets, you paid for a locker. Mr. Moxxy’s rules.” “Who’s Moxxy?” “The man we ran into earlier. The Costonian-looking fellow. I think he’s also part of some sort of secret club, but I don’t know.” Just then, a familiar-looking woman comes in. She says, “Hello! How are you liking your stay at Aqua City?” Heath says, “We just got here.” “That’s great! Oh, good news. We noticed you walk in here and we KNEW that it was you two.” “How did you know–” “Please save all the questions for the end. We are now going to give you a VIP tour with free line-cutting abilities and our best guide yet.” “Thank you for the offer, but we’re not really interested in the slides or rides or whatever, we’re really just looking around.” “Loitering is prohibited in this area. Now come on. I just KNOW you’ll have fun!” A man walks up aside her. She says, “This is Morton. He’ll be your tour guide. Ask any questions to him, and obey any orders he gives.” “But–” “I’m sorry, but I have business elsewhere. HAVE FUN!” Morton creeps up next to them and says, “Yes… have… much fun. HAHAHAHAHA—sorry. Now come. Let us go. First stop: LAZY RIVER!” They walk over there. Morton says, “Now be careful. People are known to drown in these things. Grab an inner tube, jump in, and just relax. There are also water guns above us that are shot by any people passing by at any people floating by. Be careful of them too. AND DON’T GO THE OPPOSITE WAY THE RIVER IS FLOWING! AND–” Flint interrupts him, and they jump in. Heath says, “I feel something is off.” Flint says, “Maybe it’s the fact that we’re wearing suits and lab coats instead of actual swimwear.” “I mean about the staff. They act a little strange around us.” “We don’t even know them. They’re probably just paranoid.” “Of what?” “I don’t know, maybe they’re just—HEATH, LOOK OUT!” a laser shoots out of one of the overhead water guns. Heath says, “I don’t think that was water.” Flints says, “Whatever it was, it was aimed at us.”

After they exit the river, they walk up to Morton. He says, “WAH! YOU’RE ALIVE?! I mean—oh, you’re back. How was it?” Heath says, “How was it?! Some sort of laser was shot at us from the water guns!” “Oh, that was just water dyed red.” “It left a burn mark on the edge of the pool!” “Please save all your questions until the end of the tour. Come now. Let us travel to the wave pool. Now is an exceptionally good time to go since no one is there!” They go over and are forced in the pool. Flint says, “Is it even legal to force someone to–” Morton interrupts and says, “SILENCE! NOW START HAVING FUN!” He hits a button, and the waves start coming. They keep getting bigger and bigger until they almost drown. A random person walks by and says, “Are those two drowning?!” Morton says, “No, it’s just a wave pool.” “They have suits on! They must have fell in! Don’t just stand there, get a lifeguard!” Morton rolls his eyes and goes up to his walkie-talkie and says, “Iggy, we need your help.” He comes down and saves the two. Iggy says to Morton, “Aren’t we supposed to not save them?” Morton says, “Well, thanks to passersby, we actually had to prevent them from drowning because people were ‘concerned’.” “That’s stupid.” “I know. Now go back to your post. I’ll take it from here.” He goes back to Heath and Flint and says, “Well that was unfortunate for all of us! But come on, we’ve still got stuff to do!” The same sort of stuff happens. First, they go to a waterslide where they almost fly off. Then one of those giant dump buckets, where dangerous chemicals could’ve been poured on them. Then a log flume ride where they drop almost a hundred feet in the air. They still somehow survive, but Heath then says, “Okay Mort! I’d like to speak with your manager!” Morton says, “What for?” “Every ride you’ve forced us on tried to kill us!” “You almost died of fun?” “WE ALMOST DIED OF DEATH! Where is your manager?!” “If you’d REALLY like to know… follow me.”

They approach a big building. Morton says into his walkie-talkie, “Moxxy. They’re at the door. Should I let them in?” On the other line, Moxxy says, “Fine. Bring ‘em in. Let me speak with them.” “They actually wanna speak with you.” “Bring them in anyway.” They enter. Moxxy walks up. He says, “Well, well, well. Who do we have here? I know that orange hair anywhere. You’re a Monnelley, aren’t you?” Heath, confused, says, “Yes…?” “Interesting.” “Oh, that reminds me. Rather than complaining about your deathly rides, have you seen my daughter around?” “What’s her name?” “Yvette.” “HA! You ARE her father!” “You know her?” “OF COURSE! IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW! DAWN! ATTACK THEM WHILE I COWER IN FEAR!” Dawn comes over. She says, “Monnelleys are not allowed on M tres S property. Goodbye.” She fights you, and you win. Dawn says, “Great. JUAN! GET BACKUP!” Juan comes out and says, “Well. You appear to be as strong as them. Very well. IGGY! MORTON! ATTACK! I’m gonna go cower in fear!” You fight THEM now. Iggy is strong, and Morton has his robot-pack. Destroy his robot arms to lower his ATK, and attack his robot legs to lower his DEF. You beat them, and Moxxy comes back. He says, “WAH! No one has beaten BOTH at ONCE before! Umm… UMM! TRY AND CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!” He speeds up the stairs. You follow.

You corner him. Moxxy says, “Listen. I know what you’re up to! And you’re not gonna reveal that we are actually M tres S! So if you don’t mind, I’m gonna have to wipe this from your memory! And since I don’t have a memory-wiper with me, I’ll just resort to pain. COME AT ME!” CHAPTER 3 BOSS! For some reason. You beat him. He says, “Ay ay ay! Your daughter beat me, now you beat me!” Heath says, “WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! And how do you know my daughter?” “Wait… you don’t know?” “No! I don’t even know what M tres S is!” “So… you’re not sent by your daughter to find M tres S and reveal that we’re actually from Espetonia? And despite your daughter knowing who we are, you have no clue?” “Yeah…?” “Well then… Please excuse me, this was a BIG misunderstanding. So… why are you here?” “My daughter went missing and we’re searching for clues.” “Clues, eh? Do you know anything about what happened?” “All we know is that she was kidnapped by a hooded person with long bright green hair.” “Long bright green hair, eh? Hold on.” He goes over to a computer. He asks Heath, “Your daughter’s name is Yvette, correct? Well it appears that she and somebody by the name of Melanie C. had just bought tickets.” “Really? When?” “Just this morning.” “So that means wherever Yvette is, she’s with someone named Melanie C. Thank you for the information, Mr.………” “Moxxy. Juan Moxxy. And don’t mention it. And… would you mind not mentioning anything about the whole M tres S thing to anyone?” “I still have no idea what that is, so I won’t.” “Great. Well I hope to see you at our park soon. Until then… ¡Adiós!” And they leave

Chapter 3 Interlude

Melanie comes back into Yvette’s room. She says, “Change of plans. UNFORTUNATELY, we’re not going to that water park today. I’ve got… work to do. BUT TRUST ME! We WILL have fun sooner or later! But I do have some board games we can play.” Yvette says, “Okay, I’ve gone at least a week putting up with your whole ‘make friends with your prisoner so they’ll like you’ thing, but this is getting a little weird. Why are you being so nice to me? And why haven’t you done at least one harmful thing to me? You wouldn’t kidnap someone just to make friends.” Melanie leans in closer to her and says, “I understand you’re a little uncomfortable as of now. But I know you’ll get used to it. Pretty soon we’ll be best of friends.” “But is that the ONLY reason I’m here right now?” “…Can you excuse me?” She heads into the bathroom and starts talking to herself in the mirror. She says, “She’s getting suspicious of me. I don’t know why. No one would turn down all of my friendliness. She’s smart. Very smart. But that’s why I like her. We’ll bond quickly once she sees that I’m more than what she thinks I seem.” She hears a feint voice saying, “The plan will run smoothly. Don’t you worry. Continue being you.” She doesn’t question the voice and makes a bold expression and says, “I will.”

Chapter 4: Overgrown Environment

The scientists return to Slasher’s house. Plainsworth says, “Any information?” Heath says, “Actually yes. We know our perpetrator’s name. It is Melanie. Melanie C.” “Melanie C.? I suppose that’s a good clue, but I don’t know any Melanies.” Slasher runs in and says, “Melanie C., eh? I don’t know a lot of Melanies, but none of ‘em have the initial C. But we have more pressing matters on our hands.” Percy says, “What?” “Look out the window.” They see giant plant stems and leaves covering the entire city. Heath and Flint say, “How did we not notice that coming back?!” Slasher says, “They’re sprouting faster than Plainsworth can beat a Porcu. I’ve never seen anything like it. What’s worse: It’s blocking all the paths outside of town.” Plainsworth says, “Anyone in town who we can talk to about this?” “There is one botanist in town. What’s his name? Larry? Lawrence? LORENZO, YES! Lorenzo Frost. I believe he lives in a house not far from this one. Try talking to him so we can solve this.”

They look around Glamville and eventually find a house that has a sign that says, “Dr. Lorenzo Frost, Botanist. Do Not Disturb.” Plainsworth knocks on the door. A voice from inside says, “Dr. Frost is busy. Please come again!” They knock again. The voice says, “I said Lorenzo is busy! Va via per piacere” They knock once more. A man comes out and says, “Can you not hear? Lorenzo is busy!” Plainsworth says, “Sorry to interrupt your work, Dr. Frost, but we have a problem?” “Sì?” “Have you looked outside?” He looks and says, “Whoa! How long has that been there?” “They’re popping up incredibly quickly.” “Nonsense! No plant has ever sprouted this quickly. It’s not natural! Hmm… I’ll have to take a closer look. Follow me… seguimi!” They follow, but before Lorenzo gets where he needs to go, all five run into Tony O’Martin from CORE. Tony says, “ROCKBELLS! There’s my fake fairytale zoologists” Plainsworth says, “Why are YOU here Tony?” “Ugh. Meeting with the chancellor for some reason. I’d love to stall and get out of it. What’s up with you?” “Have you seen the plants everywhere?” “Oh yeah, I thought that was normal for this country. I mean, Merova has flora, but this is RIDICUOLOUS!” “Well we’re trying to stop them before they destroy the entire town. I know you know a lot about destroying the ecosystem.” “As a matter of fact, I do. How ‘bout I help you?” “Thanks, but we already have a botanist with us. Plus, we don’t want to be with you.” “Too bad, I’m coming with anyway!” Lorenzo says, “Ay, you’re the prime minister of Merova, yes? I’ve heard terrible things about you.” “I’m sure you did, Mr. I’m-So-Special-Because-I-Actually-Care-For-The-Environment. But we don’t have time to argue! We have an environmental anomaly going on, and we need the brains of me and the… other assets of Mr. botanist here to get through it!” Lorenzo reluctantly says, “Fine. No harm in one more on the team… But now let’s actually try to work. Hmm… where are these plants coming from?” “Underground.” “I KNOW THAT, TONY! Actually… Let’s try to go underground and find these things’ roots. It’s not much, but it’s a start.” Percy says, “Underground?” “How are we gonna get underground?” Lorenzo says, “Unfortunately… the sewers.”

But before they go into the sewers, they have to look around for an actual manhole to jump under. They then bump into a very flamboyantly dressed boy with rainbow hair, earrings, a choker, and a purple sweatshirt. The boy says, “Oh sorry dudes. I wasn’t lookin’ where I was goin’. Hey… Aren’t you the prime minister of Merova? And aren’t you that weird plant scientist?” He looks around and sees Plainsworth and says, “HOLY SHIZZLE! AREN’T YOU TWO THE ROCKBELLS?!” Plainsworth says, “Yes, you’ve heard of us?” “Heard of you? Dudes, I’m a HUGE fan. You did all that blam-blam and wappow and then the slam and all that doodly-doo to bad guys right?” “Uhh. Yes. But we don’t really have time to talk. We have so many problems to attend to right now.” “Got time for a battle?” “We really need to stop these plants before they–” “ALRIGHT, LIT! Can’t believe that D-Double-B’s actually fighting the Rockbells and friends!” “But I didn’t say–” “C’MON, DON’T GO EASY ON ME!” You fight him. Reluctantly. You win. The boy says, “Woo! That was LIT! Can’t wait to brag to my friends! Need some friends first… well… bye.” He leaves. But that’s not the last of him. Lorenzo says, “That was weird. And what does ‘lit’ even mean?” Tony says, “Teenage talk for ‘cool’. I know. I have a 15-year-old. BUT ASIDE FROM THAT! Where is the sewer?” Lorenzo says, “Actually… I believe my backyard has a way down there.” “Why in the world does your backyard have an entrance to the sewers?” “DON’T QUESTION ME TONY! Now let’s go back to my house so we can further solve this confounding quandary. Seguimi!” They follow. They go back to his house and see a hole with a ladder in the back. Tony says, “Doesn’t it smell?” Lorenzo says, “I have no sense of bad smell. But aside from that…” They all look down the hole. Lorenzo says, “Who’s going first?” Plainsworth says, “It’s not that bad.” Heath says, “Yeah, but who knows what could be down there?” Tony says, “YOU’RE ALL BABIES! I’ll go first. Now come ON! Last one down is a rotten… rotten… slab of raw sewage, I guess. NOW COME ON, OR WE’LL ALL BE ENGULFED IN FOLIAGE!”

They enter. Lorenzo says, covering his nose, “Gah, what is that awful odor?” Tony says, “Sewer. But ignore the scent. We have roots to find!” They look around the sewers but don’t see any roots low enough to inspect. As soon as they see a pretty low root, a giant blob of sewage jumps out. Tony says, “WHAT IN EXCALIVIER’S NAME IS THAT?!” Lorenzo says, “I believe that is a poisonous Plootus alphus. Otherwise known as Plootzilla.” Plainsworth says, “So…” “That’s bad.” “Uh-huh. So…” “Fight it.” “Do we have to?” Tony butts in and says, “Do you wanna just stand here and smell the sewage for an even LONGER time?” Heath says, “Good point.” They all attack. But any physical attacks hurt you. You have to use longer-range attacks. After you beat it, Lorenzo says, “Astounding. I’ve never seen anything like it. Piuttosto misteriosa infatti.” As soon as they go to inspect the root, it retracts back into the ground. Tony says, “Looks like some plant is stubborn.” Lorenzo says, “Plants can’t do that. Let’s keep exploring.” They eventually reach an end to the sewers. Heath says, “I’m pretty sure that this ladder up leads to the Glamville Recycling Plant.” Lorenzo says, “Of course! Recycling plant. There has to be some correlation with it!” They climb up.

Tony says, “Hey guys. I found a patch of dirt here.” Lorenzo says, “How exciting.” “NO, LISTEN! It’s got a plant growing in it about a centimeter a second.” “That’s impossible.” “See for yourself.” “You are right. Strange. Stranger and stranger. Hmm. Hold on…” He searches around in his coat, wondering if he has a plastic baggie. He says, “AHA! Here it is. Carefully… put it… in… there.” Percy says, “What did you do?” “I kept a specimen of this soil. It’s unnatural. Let’s see what’s going on in this recycling plant now.” They enter. It’s entirely abandoned. But it’s still running. Tony says, “Interesting. This strange green goop is getting processed into regular soil.” Lorenzo says, “Green goop? OF COURSE! This radioactive sludge is mutating the plants to make them grow at unimaginable speeds!” A voice from afar says, “Very well done.” The voice’s speaker walks up and looks more like a zombie gardener. He says, “You’ve figured it out.” Plainsworth says, “Who are you?” The zombie man pauses for a second. He finally says, “I… am known as Overgrowth. We are developing the soil to make plant grow faster to engulf the entire… why am I telling you this?” Flint says, “What, ‘we’?” “Yes. We. I am not behind this. It is… her… Now excuse me, but we have artificial soil to manufacture. Don’t make me force you out… Too late. GET OUT!” He fights you and you win. He says, “I don’t have enough energy for this. Please leave, or you’ll become ingredients for the soil as well.” They all leave.

They head back into the sewers. Tony says, “So. That weird plant zombie guy and someone else are trying to speed up plant growth to totally exterminate human and animal life?” Lorenzo says, “That’s what I gathered.” “WELL WE HAVE TO STOP THEM!” “I KNOW THAT TONY!” They keep bickering with each other, and Plainsworth, Percy, Heath, and Flint just keep walking on. It seems as though all of the trouble now has made them forget what they wanted to do in the first place. Eventually they come to a large plant blocking the way. Tony and Lorenzo are too busy arguing to notice, so the other four takes it out. They eventually come out of the sewers, only to find Glamville half covered in plants by now. Lorenzo says, “This has got to stop now! Where is that Overgrowth person? When I see him again, I swear farò cose indicibili a lui che non sarà nemmeno immaginare!!!” Overgrowth slowly creeps up behind them. He says, “You finally made it. I’m glad you decided to leave the recycling plant. But now we have all that we need. The human race will be extinct.” Tony says, “You in what army? All I see is you and a blue flower wrapped around you.” The blue flower then opens its eyes and starts talking. It says, “And being a flower, I’m incapable of doing such things, aren’t I? Yeah, that’s right. I’m a talking flower. A rare kind. Only one in existence.” Lorenzo’s mouth opens wide in amazement. He says, “Don’t tell me you’re a rare Lilatius Ciombidi! Otherwise known as Zombie Lily!” “That’s right. Call me Lily for short. And I have taken control of this poor gardener so we can destroy all fauna on the planet! THE FLORA SHALL RISE AND BE THE DOMINANT SPECIES! VIVA LE PIANTE!” Lorenzo says, “Amazing. Absolutely astounding. Do you mind if I take a sample of DNA?” “STAY AWAY FROM ME! If you harm me, you harm all of the other plants around here. I’m the queen root of all of these plants!” Everyone looks at each other, and then looks at Lily. She says, “Uh-oh.” The four attack her! CHAPTER 4 BATTLE! You can’t deal damage to her until you knock out Overgrowth. After you beat them, all of the dangerous plants wilt. Overgrowth walks away. Tony says, “That was anticlimactic.” Lorenzo says, “Who cares? We’re saved!” Heath says, “Well… now that that’s over… what were we doing?” Plainsworth says, “OH, YVETTE! WE COMPLETELY FORGOT!” Percy asks Lorenzo, “Do you know anything about a Melanie C. or a kidnapping?” Lorenzo says, “Melanie C.? Why does that sound familiar? OH I KNOW! Someone by that name ordered a bouquet of roses and a pot of chrysanthemums from me. The mums were delivered to her, but I think the roses got lost.” “Do you know where they are or where they went to?” “I didn’t pay attention to the address, but I think it’s on a label on the bouquet. Pretty sure that the bouquet got lost somewhere around Eastern Field area.” “Thank you for your help!” “Of course!” They are one step closer to solving the mystery.

Chapter 4 Interlude

Melanie comes walking into Yvette’s room. She says, “SURPRISE! Mums! One of my favorite types of flowers! For you!” Yvette takes them and says, “You know, Melanie… I’m starting to think that you have no evil intentions with me. I mean, nothing you’ve given me or done to me has affected me in a negative way. I’m still curious as to why you kidnapped me, but for now, I guess I’m willing to do any activities you have planned.” “GREAT! Let’s go take a walk around the place. I don’t want such an epic day today ‘cause tomorrow, we’re going to Fahrenfall Point!” “Alright. I’m fine with that.” “GREAT! Let’s go walk around that field in the east first!”

Chapter 5: Land of the Elves

Meanwhile, back at Glamville, Slasher says, “So… Eastern Field?” Lorenzo says, “If you want to find this person’s address, there should be a bouquet with it in Eastern Field.” “Very well. I don’t know what else you’re gonna find though. Eastern Field is quite a small place. Nothing but grass and a lone tree stump.” Plainsworth says, “Makes it a little easier then.” Cole jumps out and says, “When do I come in? I’ve been following you around for days now, and not ONE need for me. And where’s my barbecue as promised?” Plainsworth says, “Don’t act up. We’re sure we’ll use you in the future.” “Suuuuuuuuuuuure…”

They walk over to the Eastern Field. They keep walking. They run into the Giant Porcu again and defeat it. They soon find the bouquet laying on top of the lone tree stump. Plainsworth says, “There they are!” As he goes to grab it, he seems to have disappeared. Heath says, “Uhh… what just happened?” He then disappears as well. Soon enough, Flint, then Percy. BUT! They didn’t disappear. They actually all shrunk down to a size smaller than a blade of grass, and they find themselves inside of the tree stump. Plainsworth says, “What just happened? Where are we?” They exit the stump and find themselves in a village with strange creatures that appear to be elves. The elves approach them and say, “You come from where?” Plainsworth says, “Where are we?” “You are in Elvin Village. You appeared to have come from the large world. It seems as though our magic has shrunken you.” “Oh… Well is there any way to grow back?” “You will have to talk to Madam Trila about that.” One elf then says, “Madam Trila?! She doesn’t like newcomers! Especially humans!” The other one says, “If they wish to return to their size, Madam Trila is the only one to whom they must talk.” “Very well. Follow us, humans.” They follow them into a cartoonishly shaped mushroom made to look like a house. A woman inside says, “Who have you brought into my presence?” One elf says, “Human, Roktrotter, and Plainwoodsmen who have shrunken down to our size, Madam.” “Human, Rocktrotter, and Plainwoodsmen? Very well. Send them inside.” The four enter. Madam Trila says, “I have been told our magic has shrunken you four down to our quaint village. I assume you wish to return to your original size. Yes?” Plainsworth says, “Yes.” Everyone pauses. Plainsworth then says, “Yes, Madam.” Trila says, “Well too bad for you, the fairy responsible for stature magic is in Fari Grove. I would never be caught dead going to fairy territory, but since it appears that no one likes you, you would be perfect mercenaries to send. But I just met you. As far as I know, you have no experience. Hmm… Fine. I shall request a fight from you. If you win, I shall allow you to travel to Fari Grove.” You fight and win. She says, “Impressive. You may not be ready for Fari Grove, but you seem diligent enough. Go. Go to the east to find Fari Grove. You will then find one of the daughters of the Straus, the King of Fairies. Her name is Cumula, and she is our only fairy ally. I trust you will be able to find her?” Plainsworth says, “We accept.” “Very well. You must beware of other species, though. Don’t mess around with things about which you don’t know. Glomurs. Especially beware of the Glomur tribe, led by Chieftain Stikki. Now that all of my warnings are done, I bid you farewell.”

They leave Trila’s house and approach the entrance to the grove. But FIRST, they run into NAVIRA! She says, “PLAINSWORTH! PERCY! How have you been?!” “Plainsworth says, “Fairly well until my wife got kidnapped.” “Oh yeah, I heard about that. I’m really sorry for you. Can I help?” “Of course! Neo isn’t with us, but we could still use an extra helper.” Cole comes out and says, “And yet, I have no use yet.” Percy says, “Calm down. I’m sure you’ll be of use.” “SUUURRRRE!” They enter the grove. Meanwhile, in the center of the grove, King of Fairies, Straus, talking with his wife, Cirri. He says, “I feel a disturbance. Humans have intruded upon our land.” Cirri says, “Humans?” “Yes. Look for them. Have at them. Do not rest until they have been ridden from our land. Or… maybe… if they are nice, invite them over.” “Very well.” She leaves. Meanwhile, back with Plainsworth, they find Cirri. She says, “You must be the ones my dearest husband was talking about.” Heath says, “Who are you?” “I am Cirri, Queen of Fairies. King Straus has asked of me to meet with you to… fight you… and invite you? I’m not quite sure what he wants, but an order is an order. Have at me!” You fight her. You win. She says, “Well done. Come. Come with us for tea. We reside at the heart of the grove, where the legendary giant Elderglo Tree resides.” Plainsworth says, “Will we find Cumula there?” “How do you know about Cumula? No matter… we shall talk at tea time. So long.” She leaves. Navira says, “That was weird.” She then sees a small unidentified animal come across them. She says to it, “OH HOW CUTE! It’s a little glowing lemur thing!” Plainsworth says, “Wait, be careful! Trila said to stay away from those.” “But LOOK AT IT!” It waves around frantically, as if trying to say something.” Navira says, “It wants to say something. If only we could read its mind.” Cole happily jumps out and says, “THAT’S WHAT I’M HERE FOR! Now let’s see… this… is a Glomur. His name is Neeko, and it just escaped its Chieftain who wanted him to do… something. Something that would cost him his life. Guys, I think we should help this guy!” Neeko enthusiastically nods his head.” Cole says, “Oh, he’s saying that we should avoid any other Glomurs at all costs. And… the man with the hat and hands… Who could that be?” Plainsworth says, “No time to think about that now. Let’s just take Neeko and go to the Elderglo Tree so we can get back to our normal size.” As they leave, someone is watching them. Someone familiar. The someone says, “Yes… go and take Neeko and go to the Elderglo Tree so you can get back to your normal size. That is… if the fairy has enough magic!”

They arrive at the Elderglo Tree. Straus is waiting. He says, “Welcome. I see you have invaded our peaceful land. Reason? Or just wanted to disrupt us?” Plainsworth says, “We look for Cumula to return to our normal size, sir.” “Cumula? I haven’t seen her in quite some time. Ever since she went off with the Glomurs and the man with the hat and hands. Who brings you here?” “Madam Trila, sir.” “Trila. She has quarreled with us for the last time. But you didn’t know elves and fairies were enemies. Speaking of enemies… I sense a Glomur in our presence.” A larger red Glomur comes out. Straus says, “Chieftain Stikki. We meet yet again. What brings you here?” Stikki points at Neeko. Straus says, “You want him? For what?” Stikki makes a gesture that apparently means “to harness magic”. Straus says, “Very well.” Navira comes out and says, “NO! You can’t take this harmless little guy!” Stikki makes a confused look. He then attacks the group. You beat him, and he crawls away. Straus says, “I know not why Chieftain Stikki wants your small Glomur friend. But I do believe it has something to do with his magic. Keep him safe if you want him to–” Just then, Straus feels a small pain on his back. He now has a sudden urge to fight the group as well. You beat him. He then says, “Must. Follow. Stikki. Must. Obtain. Magic. From. Glomurs.” And he walks away. Cole comes out and says, “Man, that guy is WACK! One moment he’s helping us, the next, he’s talking like a zombie! I wonder what’s going on in his mind… OH WAIT A MINUTE, I CAN HELP WITH THAT!” They follow Straus and knock him down. He says, “What is going on?! Let me up this instant! This is no way to treat a king!” Cole sits next to him and starts meditating. A portal above his head opens up. Cole says, “Jump in! See what’s up with this guy!” And they enter. They enter the mind of a fairy.

They enter and notice that it looks… oddly… purple and stitched. As if it was some sort of marionette. Plainsworth says, “Wait a minute. The man with the hat and hands. MARIONETTE! He somehow controlled Straus!” Marionette appears, clapping very slowly. He says, “Oh yes. Very good. Excellent deductive skills to find out that Marionette is behind this. What a plot-twist.” “What are you planning?!” “Maybe not THAT good of deductive skills… If you MUST know. I am planning to control king of fairies to harness all fairies’ magic to enhance mine!” “What about the Glomurs?” “GLOMURS?! YUM! Their glow comes from the tastiest type of magic. It is a type of magic that can only be collected by strong fairy magic. Glo. Yes, it is ‘glow’ without the W. What I am planning is to harness the fairies’ magic to get enough magic to harness the Glo. I will then use the Glo to enhance me! And now that I have possessed the king, I can control him to harness Glomur’s Glo AND the Glo from the Elderglo tree. I SHALL BE AMAZING!” “You do realize you just told your entire plan, right?” “That you know of. NA-HA! Oh, good news! This king just thought about Stikki. The boss Glomur. Since I am technically a fairy now, I CAN HARNESS STIKKI’S GLO! HA!” He goes and possesses Stikki. It grows. Marionette says, “Oh wow, I did not expect to be THIS huge! What a bonus!” Cole comes out and says, “Hmm. Well then. How to stop this… umm… WAIT! We’re in a mind! Anything can go! Plainsworth! Think about growing!” He does. He grows. Marionette says, “Oh yay. Someone my own size to pick on. Hmm-hmm. Heh. HA! THIS’LL BE FUN!” You GIANT battle him. After you win, he says, “Hey. No one cares. I’m still in the king’s mind. I can still harness Glo! NOW GET OUT OF OUR MIND!” Plainsworth and the group wake up. Marionette, as the king, says, “Now. I appreciate the act of trying to save your king, but I’m STARVING! Where are the Glomurs?” He runs away. Cirri comes and says, “That’s not really Straus, is it?” Plainsworth says, “No. It’s the man with the hat and hands.”

They follow Marionette to the Glomur tribe. He says, “Now… where is the most powerful Glomur?” Plainsworth stops him and shouts, “NO!” Marion turns around and says, “UGH! Please! Haven’t I taken care of you guys for the last 4 adventures?” “No. BUT WE’RE NOT LETTING YOU HARNESS THE GLO!” “WHY?! What do you care?!” “It’s the only thing keeping us from staying shrunken forever!” “Oh, everything is about YOU now! Plus, don’t hold your breath. Cumula’s already been harnessed. And the only way to revive her and everyone else is by stopping me! BUT YOU WON’T DO THAT, BECAUSE I’M THE BEST! But I’d like to see you try anyway. Plus, I’d REALLY like you to stop living now. So… yeah, I’m up for a battle. HAVE AT ME!” You fight him. He may possess Plainsworth, Percy, Heath, or Flint. You must attack his puppet sticks to release them. After you beat him, he falls flat on the ground. He says, “Ah. Yes. Of course. You always manage to beat me somehow. Pity. Well, I have more pressing matters to attend to. I must make someone more miserable than they already are. TAKE YOUR STUPID GLO BACK!” And he leaves. Cumula awakes and says, “Did… did you guys save me and everyone?” Heath says, “Yes. Now we’ve heard you are able to control sizing magic. Is that true?” “Yes it is. But doing it here will be very cramped when you grow. Let’s go back to Elvin Village.” They go. Trila is waiting. She says, “Welcome back. It appears to me you have found Cumula. Since you most likely will not be able return to this size for quite some time, are there any questions or comments you would like to ask or tell me?” Heath says, “Actually yes. Have you seen or heard about people named Melanie and Yvette coming this way? And, can we have the flowers on top of your tree stump?” “To answer your latter question, they are gone. You ask why? To answer your first question, these Yvette and Melanie people have come here. One of them picked up the roses and said something about going to Fahrenfall Point. Is that all of your questions?” “Yes thank you.” “Then without further hesitation, Cumula, would you please grow these people back to their original size?” Cumula says, “Of course,” and grows them back.

Chapter 5 Interlude

Yvette and Melanie are walking together. Melanie says, “Well, I am glad I found the roses I ordered on that tree stump. Let’s go to Fahrenfall now! But Fahren Heights or Twinfall Cliffs? AH, I CAN’T DECIDE! Whatevs, we’ll decide once we get there.” Yvette says, “Hmm… I’m starting to wonder about Plainsworth and Dad.” “Why are you worried about them? You said yourself that you’re starting to get used to me.” “Yeah, but I have a life outside of this. Don’t get me wrong, you’re really nice, but I have a wedding to get back to.” “Oh that’s RIGHT! Well… guess you’ll have to wait for them. Now c’mon! Let’s have some fun!”

Chapter 6: She Said

Plainsworth and the group return to Slasher. Plainsworth says, “Good news, bad news.” Slasher says, “FIVE WORDS OR LESS FOR EACH! GO!” “Uh—umm… Bad news: roses not there. Good news: Melanie, Yvette, Fahrenfall.” “Fahrenfall, eh? That could mean Fahren Heights or Twinfall Cliffs. Good thing about that though is that almost no one goes there anymore. Bad thing about that is it’s HUGE! Plus, it’s quite  risky going up there. What with the… schism.” “Schism?” “Yes, it’s a noun that means split, break, or division.” “I know. But what happened?” “THE FAHRENS AND FALLS! They were mortal enemies! Except for one Fahren and one Fall. They loved each other. But then started to hate each other. And then… they despised each other. They’ve been fighting and ignoring each other ever since. HAVE FUN!” Plainsworth sighs and says, “Alright. If it means saving Yvette, we’ll go.”

They venture up north to Fahrenfall Point. It is a small district in a valley between Fahren Heights and Twinfall Cliffs. It’s windy and cold, but pretty cool to look at. The group look around for a way to get up to Fahren Heights. Or Twinfalls Cliffs. We’re not quite sure which yet. They see someone and ask them, “Excuse me, but do you know a way to Fahren Heights and Twinfall Cliffs.” The person says, “Look in that travel center right there.”  They go in and see clutter and paper all over the place. It must belong to Gelapo! He comes out of his office and says, “Hello! How may I help you four?” Plainsworth says, “Can we get to Fahren Heights and Twinfall Cliffs?” “Well, going up to either is quite dangerous, and both will require a guide. Who’s going to which?” “I guess Percy and I will go to Twinfall and Heath and Flint can go to Fahren.” “Very well… I will assign you to a guide in just a moment. You’d like to go to Snowstone Chalet and Cloudrise Castle, right?” “Sure.” “Okay, that’s perfect then. Please hold on for a second.” He leaves for a second and comes back. “Rockbell sirs, this is Cohver. He’ll be your guide up Twinfall Cliffs. You other two will be with Victoria here. She will guide you up Fahren Heights. Please be careful all of you.”

Now this Chapter is divided into two different chapters. One will be the scientists’ adventures up Fahren Heights with Victoria, and the other will be the Rockbells’ journey up Twinfall Cliffs. Let’s start with Heath, Flint, and Victoria. They go over to the base of the mountain. Victoria says, “Now please follow me. Don’t stray. I don’t want either of you to get lost. It’s dangerous up there. But if you’re sure, c’mon and follow me.” They climb up. RICHER APPEARS! Victoria says, “Hey! What are you doing up here?” Richer says, “Oh, I’m sorry, am I supposed to be with a guide?” “Yes, it’s dangerous up here.” “Well… Should I just go down for now?” “Please.” “Oh… um… yeah… okay.” Heath and Flint discuss with each other that Richer is one of Plainsworth’s enemies. They fight him. Richer is trying to not fight, and Victoria is trying to stop the fight. After you win, Richer says, “Hey! I wasn’t doing anything wrong! Man, you must be Plainsworth’s friends. He fights exactly like you. Well, goodbye!” And he leaves. Victoria says, “Calm down you two. Fighting on ice is–” Heath interrupts saying, “Dangerous. Sorry.” “So is there any reason you’re climbing?” “Clues. My daughter just got kidnapped, and we’re looking for clues about her. Do you know anyone named Melanie C.?” “No, can’t say I do. But if someone were to come here, they’d probably go to Snowtone Chalet. ‘Cause there’s really no reason to go to Fahren Heights aside from Snowstone.” “Great, we’re going there anyway, right?” “Right, but Mrs. Fahren doesn’t tolerate visitors as much as she used to.” “That doesn’t matter, as long as we can find clues, we’ll put up with it.” “Sure? Alright. But just remember that facing an angry Fahren is… dangerous.” “Dangerous, got it. Now let’s go. The more time we waste, the more time Yvette could be suffering.”

They head up to the Snowtone Chalet. An old lady opens the door and says, “What do you want?” Victoria says, “Hello ma’am. It’s me. Victoria. Back again with two more visitors.” “Ugh. Fine. They can come in. I’ll fix them up a cup of tea.” They come in. The woman says, “My name is Fahren. I’m a descendant of the settler who travelled to this icy ridge I call my home. It was once going to be part of the Twinfall area, but that was way back when Fall over there actually had a brain.” Heath says, “Was there a conflict between you two?” “Conflict?! That man is an idiot! I’ve seen snowmen with more intelligence than him! Great. Now you’ve reminded me of my past love life. Excuse me while I sit in my room and lay down, trying to forget any interactions with that man.” She leaves. Victoria says, “She’s been like this ever since a number of years ago when she and Fall divorced. I don’t know the exact reason, but she always seems to say it’s because of his idiocy.” Heath says, “Well there’s no way we can interrogate her about Yvette and Melanie when she’s not gonna talk to anyone. Let’s try and figure her out.” “Yeah, you do that. They only way to do that is by literally travelling inside her mind.” Cole jumps out and says, “YAY! Alright, come on. We’ve got work to do.” They enter her room. Fahren is half-asleep. She says, “I’m sorry for being a terrible hostess right now, but I have emotional problems of my own. Feel free to look around the chalet. Just don’t disturb me.” She falls asleep. Cole silently says, “Okay. Now’s our chance. Let’s enter her mind so we can actually knock some sense into her.” And they enter.

They enter Fahren’s mind. Her mind-self says, “You?! Why am I still thinking about you? Hmph. Guess that’s what happens when you invite guests.” Heath says, “Is there anything we can help you with your… problem?” “It’s nothing you can help with. It’s just that Fall is an idiot!” “Is that the only reason?” “STOP ASKING QUESTIONS!” A large rumble happens. Mind-Fahren says, “Great. Now I’m thinking of that monster Fall even more. GAH! LOOK AT IT! IT’S HUGE! IT’S TERRIFYING!” A large man comes. Fahren says, “That’s Fall. But huge. HEY NUMSKULL! I’VE MOVED ON! GO RUIN SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE!” Heath says, “Want us to aliviate your mental pain for a second?” “How?” “Oh, just by fighting your memory of Fall.” “Please.” They think about growing. They grow and fight Fahren’s interpretation of Fall. You beat him and he fades away.” Fahren says, “Wow, that was satisfying.” She then wakes up, and everyone exits her mind. Fahren says, “Wow. I had a wonderful dream. You guys were beating up Fall, and now it just feels I’ve completely moved on from him.” Heath says, “Great! Then can we ask a few questions?” “Not now. Now I’m gonna go over to Cloudrise Castle and finally confront Fall. Maybe we’ll even settle what we were fighting about to begin with. YES! I’m gonna leave now. Victoria, watch these two for a second.” And she leaves.

BUT NOW LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT FALL’S SIDE!

Chapter 6.5: He Said

Rewind all the way back to the base of Twinfall Cliffs with Plainsworth, Percy, and Cohver. Cohver says, “Alright! Here we are at Twinfall Cliffs. Been a while since I was here. Now be sure to follow me. It’s VERY steamy, and you may get lost. But whatever. Let’s go!” They climb up. Suddenly, Celestrio appears. You fight him because why not? After you win, Cohver says, “I won’t tolerate fighting on these cliffs. You could get hurt. So… any reason you’re climbing? For fun? For adventure? For what?” Plainsworth says, Clues. My wife just got kidnapped, and we’re looking for clues about her. Do you know anyone named Melanie C.?” “Melanie C.? Ah… no. But there’s really no place to go on these cliffs aside from Cloudrise Castle. But you’re going there anyway.” “Great! We could ask people there about her?” “I’m sure you could, but Mr. Fall doesn’t really pay attention to things like that.” “I’m sure we’ll find a way to get clues.” “Sure? Alright. Be careful though. Sometimes Fall can be… too friendly.” “That’s fine. Now let’s go. The more time we waste, the more time Yvette could be suffering.”

They head up to Cloudrise Castle. A man opens the door and says, “Ohohoho! Visitors! I’ve’nt seen visitors since the… the schism. Hohoho, how can I help?” Cohver says, “Hello sir! It’s me, Cohver! I’ve got two more visitors for you.” “Oho! WONDERFUL! Come on in, I’ll get you some tea!” They enter The man says, “Oh pardon me, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Fall. My ancestors MUCH long ago settles to these steamy waterfalls that are now my wonderful home! It was going to be joined to the Fahren region… but… that was back when Fahren actually had a soul.” Plainsworth says” “Was there something between you two?” “What, us? No. No. Well maybe. She was a little too arrogant for my taste. And a little psycho. But HOHO, let’s not remind me of her. Can I interest you in some tourist attractions here? Ah, no. Hoo, I’ve been reminded of her. Pardon me. I just need to go to my room, sit down, and try to forget any interactions I’ve had with her.” He leaves. Cohver says, “He’s never been like this. I think he remembered when he and Fahren divorced. I’m not exactly sure the reason, but like he said, it must’ve been about her being too crazy and arrogant.” Plainsworth says, “Well we can’t ask him about Yvette and Melanie if he’s like this. Could we try to help him?” “I don’t know how. Maybe enter his mind. But let’s get real. That’ll never–” COLE JUMPS OUT! He says, “I’LL HELP! Come one! Let’s go!” They enter his room. Fall is laying in his bed, pretending to be asleep. He says, “Sorry for my uncharacteristic unhappiness about there. But… it’s nothing to worry about. Feel free to look around the castle, but please don’t disturb me.” He falls asleep. “Okay. Now’s our chance. Let’s enter his mind so we can actually knock some sense into him.” And they enter.

They enter Fall’s mind. His mind-self says, “You?! Oh-HOHO! I’m still thinking about you? Hahaha! Well then, guess that’s what happens when you have visitors.” Plainsworth says, “Can we help you in your problem with Fahren?” “Oh no, I don’t think you can help. It’s just that I could NOT control her. Hoo boy, was she a maniac.” “Why did you think that?” “I’d rather not say right now.” A large quake happens. Mind-Fall says, “Well look at that, it’s a huge and terrifying Fahren. HEY FAHREN! I’M OVER IT! GO BE INSANE SOMEWHERE ELSE!” Plainsworth says, “Want us to take care of this for a second?” “Please.” They grow by thinking about growing and fight Fall’s interpretation of Fahren. You be her and she fades away.” Fall says, “Hohoho, that was satisfying.” He then wakes up, and everyone exits his mind. Fall says, “What a great dream. Fahren was there. And you were there. And then she was gone. Boy, I feel completely refreshed. OHOHO!” “Great! Can we ask you about something then?” “In a moment. Now, I’m gonna go to Snowstone Chalet and finally face Fahren! And then we’ll settle what we fought about! Yes, ohoho! I SHALL LEAVE NOW! Feel free to follow me if you want.” And he leaves. And they follow.

Chapter 6 continued

Back at Snowstone Chalet, Victoria says, “I’m scared. The way Fahren said that sounded… bad. Let’s follow her.” They go down to follow her down to the base of Fahren Heights. Fahren sees them and says, “You followed me?! Well that’s fine. Come on! Let’s teach that Fall a lesson!” But then Plainsworth, Percy, and Fall bump into Fahren, Heath, and Flint. Fall says, “Hoho, what are you doing here?!” Fahren says, “What am I doing here? I’m going to your place to talk!” “Same here!” “And who are those people with you?” “Friends. What about you?” “Visitors. So… are you talking about the same thing I want to?” “You mean the–” “Yes.” “NO! WE’RE NOT TALKING ABOUT THAT! YOU WERE AN IDIOT ABOUT THAT!” “YOU WERE TOO CRAZY ABOUT IT!” “WELL I’M NOT GONNA DISCUSS IT THEN!” “ME NEITHER!” They walk back to their respective groups. They ask them if they want to settle the other person. They say yes. So they do. Plainsworth and Percy fight Fahren, and Flint and Heath fight Fall. After you beat them, Fall says, “No use fighting anymore. Let’s just settle this like adults.” Fahren says, “Yes. So… you really didn’t know that I was applying for another job?” “To be fair, you had like 3 at the time.” “All you did was sit around and do nothing.” “It wasn’t my fault you did all the work anyway. And you were happy with it.” “I acted happy because I couldn’t confront you properly. And if I DID, it would’ve passed one ear and out the other anyway!” “ExCUSE me for tuning out all your psychotic rants that didn’t mean ANYTHING!” “Honestly Fall, you haven’t changed a bit.” “Neither have you!” “I’m glad we split up.” “I’m much more content in my castle.” “Me too! But I could do without the tourists.” “At least I actually WELCOME tourists! Before these two, there was this VERY nice couple of girls. That Yvette one was nicer than you EVER would be!” “Yvette? She came to my place too!” “OH THAT CHEATING LITTLE CHEATER! She never said anything about Fahren Heights! All I heard was the other one wanting to go to see a hypnotist.” “She said the same thing at my place!” “WHY DID SHE WANT TO SEE A HYPNOTIST?!” “MAYBE TO ERASE HER MEMORY OF SEEING YOU!” “WHY YOU LITTLE–” The other four carefully step away and run back to Glamville. Not only because they got information, but to escape something that could get ugly.

Chapter 6 Interlude

Back at Melanie’s house, Melanie says, “Wow, wasn’t that hike up Fahren Heights AND Twinfall Cliffs just EXHILERATING?!” Yvette says, “I guess. But why were you asking Fahren and Fall about a hypnotist?” “No reason. Well… no reason in particular. Well… no reason that you need to know about. So… I’m gonna go see him. In the meantime, make yourself at home. Well you’ve already done that since you came. Alright, bye!” She leaves. Yvette says to herself, “That girl is weird. I have no idea what she’s planning. Guess I’ll just look around until she gets back.” She sees a plank with string attached to it. She says, “Huh. It looks like part of a puppet.” She looks around more. There is a small wooden figure of Melanie. She says, “Guess she’s into puppet shows. Not surprising, after seeing her scrapbook collection and box of arts and crafts. Wait, what’s this?” She picks up a small book, “Is this her diary? How cute. Should I… no, I shouldn’t. She’s starting to become a good friend, and I shouldn’t… well, she DID kidnap me. Maybe this will reveal some secrets… should I? Oh, I’m gonna regret this.” She looks inside. She turns to today’s date. It says, “Yvette is being SUCH a good friend. I remember she was a little suspicious at first, but we’re getting closer and closer to being besties! Maybe this time, I’ll have a friend lasting longer than three weeks. But for now, I’ll just see how it plays out.” The next page has large writing, with handwriting as if it were rushed. But not only is it illegible, most of it is crossed out. All that Yvette can make out is, “Get out!”, “Go away!”, and “PUPPET!” Yvette closes the book and says, “What was that last page? I’m starting to feel… scared.”

Chapter 7: The Storm by the Grotto

The group comes back to Slasher. He says, “How was it?” Plainsworth says, “I don’t wanna talk about it. But we did find out that this Melanie person wants to see some sort of hypnotist.” “Hypnotist? There’s only one close to here, and he’s retired… …BUT! That man DOES know a lot… well either way, going to him would be a good idea. ALRIGHT! Here’s the plan. Travel to the east to Torrential Trail. Find the man known as Oscar Humming. He’s your guy.” “Oscar Humming?” “Yes. Ask him about anything you need to know. Now go! DON’T DALLY!”

They head to the east to Torrential Trail, where a large thunderstorm is happening. A LARGE thunderstorm. They try to safely find Mr. Humming, but have no luck. Soon, they come across a house in the middle of the trail. A man comes out of it, sees them, and says, “GASP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN A STORM LIKE THIS?! YOU COULD GET YOURSELVES KILLED! QUICK, COME INSIDE!” They enter his house. The man says, “Great Scott, I didn’t think people would be coming out in this condition. Why, oh WHY would you go here at this time?” Plainsworth says, “We’re looking for someone.” “Please. Who would you be looking for here?” “Do you know a Mr. Oscar Humming?” “GASP! Humming?!” “Do you know him?” “Uhh… yeah. He was a colleague of mine,” He looks out the window, “Looks like this storm won’t be thinning out anytime soon. Guess it’s story time. By the way, I’m Parks. Felix Parks. Anyway… let’s talk about Humming. So… a couple 10 years ago…” Commence flashback. Until otherwise noted, we will be now telling the story of Parks and Humming. Parks and Humming are walking down Torrential Trail. Parks says, “Big storm. Can we get to Crasher Grotto safely?” Humming says, “It’s fine. It’s not that far.” “Why do you need to get there again?” “I’m meeting… a friend there.” “What was his name again?” “Mar—that doesn’t matter. He’s similar to me.” “Hey, who are they?” “Looks like a couple of rogues. Let’s handle this.” You fight the two as Parks and Humming. After you beat them, Humming hypnotizes them, saying, “Go away. Go far away, not disrupting anyone. Go.” They leave. Parks says, “How do you do that?” “Ancient secret taught by my… my friend. Looks like the storms thinning. Let’s hurry to Crasher Grotto.” END FLASHBACK! Percy says, “What a boring story.” Parks says, “Well excuse me for not making it interesting.” “Who was Oscar’s friend?” “Still have no idea. He says he’s some sort of… zombie puppeteer? I don’t remember it correctly,” he looks out the window again, “Looks like it’s clearing up a little. Go see Mr. Humming now. Go quickly before the storm starts back up.” They go.

They eventually reach an entrance to a small underground cavern. After venturing through it enough, they reach a dead end. A man is standing there. Plainsworth says, “Excuse me, are you Oscar Humming?” He slowly turns around and says slowly and angrily, “Of course. How may I help you?” “Do you know anything about a girl named Melanie C.?” “……………………………No. But I’m glad you’re here. Can you help me with something? I was on my way to Glamville, but I got lost. Would you mind directing me to Glamville please?” “Umm… it’s just to the west.” “Great! You know, it’s weird how often one can forget something. Like directions. And someone as old as me can forget quite easily. Have you ever felt that sometimes you just instantly forget?” He snaps his fingers. Plainsworth says, “Yeah, sometimes. Well… see you, I guess.” “Yes. See you.” They leave and come back to Parks. He says, “Did you find what you needed to know?” Plainsworth says, “What?” “The whole reason you came here in the first place! Don’t tell me you forgot.” “He hypnotized us, didn’t he?” “I guess so. Try going back again. And try to stay out of his spell.” They go back to him. Oscar says, “Oh hello, I’m glad you’re back. I was wondering if you could tell me the time.” Plainsworth says, “But we need to know–” “It’ll only take 10 seconds. I have a pocket watch with me, but the little tick marks are so confusing and hard to read, can you just take a look?” He takes out his watch and gently swings it. While they’re reading it, he says, “Boy, am I feeling sleepy. I feel like I could just fall into a deep trance with the snap of fingers just like this.” He snaps his fingers, and they fall asleep. Oscar says, “That’ll teach ‘em to stop bugging me. Cole jumps out and says, “Hey! You can’t do that to them!” “Why not?” “Because they’re trying to save someone.” “Who cares?” “I care. And I assume that the someone they’re saving cares. I’m going in their mind to wake them up.” “Have fun doing the impossible!” Cole enters their mind. Oscar sees the portal over their head and says, “Huh.” And jumps in. Oh no.

Cole says to himself, “Where are they? Why wouldn’t they be at the entrance of their OWN minds?! UGH! Now I have to WORK to find them? I could be eating a burger right now if I didn’t join them. Whatever. Let’s just get this over with.” You play as him for a while until you finally find Plainsworth and Percy laying down. He nudges them and says, “Guys, wake up. And after that, wake up in real life!” Oscar comes up and says, “I’m sorry Mr. Meat-Addict. They’re knocked out for quite some time.” “WHY ARE YOU HERE?!” “No reason. I figure if I find a way to permanently erase their memory, they’ll stop bugging me about this Melanie person.” “I’m sorry, but you’re gonna have to go through ME if you want to erase their memory!” He looks at Cole very sternly. He says, “You think that’ll be hard? No, I won’t be fighting you. I don’t want to waste my power and intelligence of the likes of you. Being in a mind, anything goes. So I’ve created a large hypnotic being. Enjoy fighting that!” And he leaves. A large hypnotic being appears. Cole has to grow himself and giant battle it. After he beats it, Oscar comes back and says, “Perhaps I’ve underestimated you. In that case…” He does some finger snapping and whispering. The Rockbells wake up. Oscar says, “You know… it’s really funny how you think you’ll beat me. Hey Cole. How about following me?” He leaves. And Cole follows him. For some reason. Plainsworth says, “Where is Cole going?” Percy says, “No idea. It doesn’t seem smart though. Let’s follow them.”

They follow him. Plainsworth says, “Cole! What are you doing?!” He doesn’t respond. Oscar comes out. He says, “Well, well, well. If it isn’t the nosy people who can’t keep their face out of someone else’s privacy.” “How did you even get here?!” “SHUT UP! Now… About your friend… Yeah. He’s under my spell.” “What?!” “It wasn’t that hard. It seems like even though he’s the Guardian of Minds, he’s not the brightest bulb in the lamp. That’s not a phrase, but it should be. Now Cole… How about fighting them? And then… how about trapping them? Thanks.” Cole slowly creeps up to them. Plainsworth says, “Umm… Cole. Don’t do this. Stop. NO!” And they fight. After you beat him, he walks away. Plainsworth says, “COLE! Don’t go back to him! Stay with us! We still owe you your unlimited and unimaginable meat!” Cole wakes up from the spell. He says, “Mmm… meat. Where is it?” “Nowhere, we just needed you to come back.” “YOU CAN’T PROMISE ME SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND THEN SAY NO!” “Well now that everyone is awake, let’s escape our mind. Then we’ll talk with Humming.” They exit. Back at Crasher Grotto. Oscar says, “What?! I was just in your mind! Did you wake up? Great… But… you know. I’m still gonna hide my secrets from you.” Plainsworth says, “Just tell us!” “No. It’s funny how you think I’ll give it to you that easily. Cole. How about taking them away?” He goes back under his spell and takes them to the entrance to the cave. Plainsworth says, “Come ON! Unimaginable meats, Cole.” Cole says, “Mmm… CRUD! There’s no meat here!” “We need to stop Oscar and his hypnosis on you!” “YEAH!”

They keep walking, trying to get back to Oscar. Percy says, “You know, it’s really funny how he’s always woken up by meat.” Cole stops. Plaisnworth says, “Cole? Everything okay?” Oscar comes over and says, “You haven’t figured it out yet?! You really ARE stupid. Every hypnotist needs a triggering and stopping word. ‘Funny’ is mine. What’s the ending word? Now why would I tell you?” Plainsworth says, “Release him right now!” “Oh, an antsy man. Calm down. There’s a 1 out of 171,476 chance you’ll get it right. Hint hint, it’s NOT ‘meat’.” Plainsworth says, “Let him go!” “Make me.” “Alright, I will.” They fight him. CHAPTER 7 BATTLE! He may hypnotize either Plainsworth or Percy. After you beat him, he says, “Oh it’s unimaginable you beat me… wait.” Cole wakes up. He says, “I’M BACK!” Plainsworth says, “Was it ‘unimaginable’?” Oscar says, “Yeah whatever.” “Then can you please answer our question?” “I DON’T KNOW ANY MELANIE!” “Are you sure?” “No. I’m lying. I’m hiding some stuff from you, but you’ll never find out.” “Can you at least tell us where she’s off to?” “Fine. Barnwell. Port Barnwell. She’s heading on Livingstone Cruiseline with a redhead girl.” “Thank you.” “Uh-huh.” They leave. Before they exit the cave, Oscar adds, “Oh by the way! My friend… his name is Marion Marley. Now leave!”

Chapter 7 Interlude

Back at Melanie’s place, Melanie comes back. She says, “I’m BACK! How was it without me. Probably really lonely and sad, eh?” Yvette says, “Yeah…” “What’s wrong?” “Nothing. I’m just… thinking.” “Well you can think later. I just bought the last two tickets for Livingstone Cruisline!” “We’re going on a cruise?” “YEP! It’s gonna be SO FUN! I can’t WAIT! I packed everything and got some swimsuits for you and… well… you’ll see everything I have planned once we’re there. Now come on! Let’s go to Barnwell to board!” Before they exit the door, Melanie goes back and gets something she forgot. She grabs her journal. She says, “Can’t leave without this. Heheh.”

Chapter 8: SOS

The Rockbells return to Slasher’s place. Slasher is sitting around, bored. He says, “Find anything?” Plainsworth says, “Barnwell. Livingstone. Cruise.” “Ah. You have to go to Port Barnwell to board Livingstone Cruiseline. But why? What could this Melanie person have anything to gain taking Yvette there? UNLESS! She plans on hijacking it and driving it into an iceberg or pirate ship and THEN the ship will sink and everyone will drown and get eaten by a whale!!!” “What could anyone possibly gain by doing that?” “Well… um… That doesn’t matter. What matters is that Yvette and Melanie are on the ship, and you guys need to find them and stop her!” “RIGHT!” And they head north to the lovely seaside port of Barnwell.

They arrive at Port Barnwell. A large cruise ship is docked in it. Plainsworth says, “Is that the Livingstone?” Percy says, “It’s the biggest one here, so I assume so.” “Why does Mews have to make everything seem better than it already is?” A man from afar says, “BECAUSE IT LOOKS COOL!” Mews comes over. He says, “Hello Rockbells! What brings you here? Here to ride the legendary Livingstone?” Plainsworth says, “Actually, yes.” “Well unlucky for you, tickets are sold out.” “Can’t you make an exception?” “A man needs to make a living.” “You’re a multimillionaire.” “But not a billionaire Plainsworth. Not a billionaire. Yet. BUT! I SUPPOSE I could have you pay me for my written permission allowing you on the ship.” “Could you?” “NOPE! I wanna see you scour around for tickets before I give you this. Maybe find a more generous person. I wouldn’t count on it though.” “Thanks for the help.” “DON’T MENTION IT!” They look around the port for tickets or someone to ask for some. Eventually, they spot Bobby and his family. Bobby says, “Well well well. Rockbells. Nice seeing you here. Riding the Livingstone too?” “Yeah… wait, why are you riding your rival’s boat?” “I’m playing a prank on him. Now, I assume you’re looking for tickets?” “How’d you know?” “Things like this always happen with Livingstone.” “Do you have some for us?” “Fortunately when I was ordering them, I accidently typed in 13 instead of 3. Want the extra 10?” “Please.” “What do you have for me?” “Umm…” “You can’t get something for nothing. But I am feeling not greedy. How about instead of money… a battle. I’ve heard you’re good at that, right?” “Fine.” “Good.” They fight and you win. Bobby gives the tickets. He says, “Have fun.”

They board the ship. Mews is the last one to board. He says, “ALL IS ABOARD THE LIVINGSTONE! Let us set sail to wherever the heck we’re going!” The ship starts. Plainsworth says to Percy, “Now remember that Melanie and Yvette are on this too. We have to find them.” Percy says, “How about asking the manager of the suites?” “Let’s go!” They go over to the suites and talk to the manager. The manager says, “Melanie and Yvette? Yes, there is a Melanie and Yvette on board, but it’s against policies to tell you their room. You’ll have to wait until they exit.” Percy asks, “Have they exited?” “Yes. I heard they’re on their way to mini-water-park.” “A mini-water-park?! This ship has everything! Let’s go!” But before they head to the mini-water-park, they run into a skeleton. Don’t worry, it’s sentient. It’s Skullbone! He says, “Yarr, ya be the two who stole me treasure from Key Krakemari.” They fight because we need to fill time. You win. Skullbone says, “I ain’t got time for landlubbers like ya two. I gotta get back to the helm with Captain Jerry. Without the two of us, who knows what danger be lurkin’?” And he leaves. Afterwards, they head to the mini-water-park. They think they see Yvette, but right before they call her name, a huge rumble happens. Captain Jerry says on the intercom, “This is why we need two captains at all times! Folks, we appeared to have run into some… trouble. By that, I mean we hit an iceberg, and the ship is slowly but surely sinking. I guess the person who paid to have all these luxuries didn’t pay for safety. Everyone remain calm. Women and children in the lifeboats first!” Everyone runs to the lifeboats. Plainsworth says, “Great. Since women and children go first, we’ve probably already lost Melanie and Yvette.” Percy says, “I’d worry more about the leak that’s opening a lot faster than before.” Everyone jumps off the boat… except for the Rockbells. They were left on it!

Percy starts to panic. He says, “THEY LEFT US!” Plainsworth says, “Calm down. Let’s just calmly jump off and swim to a safe place.” “First of all, we’re Plainwoodsmen, so we can’t swim. Second, the water is knee-deep! Do you know how to fix a tear in the hull?” “No. But starboard is still dry. For now. Let’s try and find something to patch up the leak there!” They go down into suites below the deck. Eventually, after wading around in deepening water, they find something that won’t patch up the hole, but something that will save them. Plainsworth says, “An inflatable raft! Quick, blow it up and let’s get outta here!” They blow it up and sail to a small floeberg (an iceberg made of ice). The ship didn’t make it though. Mews sees them and says, “ROCKBELLS! I was worrying about you guys. I thought you drowned. I’m glad you made it. We set up camp on this floeberg. Unfortunately, we can’t make a fire, so we got you some blankets.” Plainsworth says, “So what’s the plan?” “Stay her until we die.” “You’re not setting up an SOS?” “Never thought of that. That’s a good idea!” After an SOS is set up, they see a ship coming up. Mews says, “LOOK!” He signals at the ship, and it comes over. But who’s driving the ship may come as a surprise to some…

Everyone boards the ship that comes over. But… IT’S ACTUALLY A PIRATE SHIP! They walk into a pirate ship. The captain of the ship says, “Well well well. Looks like we’ve got a whole cruise-full of people here. Guess someone hit an iceberg.” Mews says, “Yes. May you take us back to Barnwell?” “Oh, I’m sorry. I think you mistook me for someone who cares about you. No, we’re gonna have all of you tortured in ways you can’t even imagine.” Plainsworth comes up to him and says, “You can’t do that! These people are—oh no. You’re not who I think you are, are you?” The captain says, “Who do you think I am… Rockbell?” “KRANER!” “HA! I go by Captain Kraner now! Since I’m banned from three countries, I think it’s be better to just take to international waters. Then I can do whatever I want! Plus, I’ve got as much fruit as I can to prevent scurvy. And my hook-hand adds to the whole authenticity.” “You can’t just torture and kill of these people!” “Who said I was killing? I’m just throwing them off. I believe this is shark waters though. Then again, it may just have… whales… ugh… ANYWAY! I’m not letting you not let me do this, so you leave me now choice! AVAST YE LANDLUBBER!” CHAPTER 8 BATTLE! You win. Kraner says, “I wasn’t trying my best. I don’t wanna waste my energy.” Plainsworth sees something emerge behind Kraner. Plainsworth says, “Um… Kraner?” “I’m talking Rockbell. Now it’s time for me to take these prisoners and–” “Kraner…” “Don’t interrupt me. As I was saying, I will now take all of my prisoners, and–” “KRANER LOOK BEHIND YOU!” A large whale appears. Kraner seems to be very afraid. He says, “OH MY GOSH! I—Uhh.. TAKE THE ROCKBELLS! DON’T EAT ME!” He throws the two into the water and they get sucked into its filter mouth. Kraner says, “Problem solved.” But then Mews pushes him off the boat and he gets sucked in too. Now the three are stuck in a whale.

Kraner gets up and says, “Great. Now the three of us are stuck inside this monster of an animal.” Plainsworth says, “It’s your fault for throwing us!” “HOW IS MY FAULT?! I WAS DEFENDING MYSELF FROM THIS INCREDIBLY TERRIFYING AQUATIC MAMMAL!” “Do you know how stupid you sound when you say you’re afraid of whales?” “I don’t care. I’m gonna find a way outta here. Don’t help me. I’ll find a way myself.” And he leaves. Now you just wander around looking for ways out. Eventually you run into Kraner. He says, “Look who’s here. I seem to have found myself between a rock and a hard place. Or more specifically, between tissue and a whale’s innards. I’m stuck. But I’ll find a way out myself. I don’t need your help.” You cut the tissue and Kraner leaves without saying thanks. The same kinds of things repeat until you finally make it to a dead end. Kraner says, “Looks like there’s no way out. Can’t help me now, can you?” Percy says, “Actually I’ve read that we can escape its blowhole if you smoke us out.” “That’s stupid. Even if it weren’t we have nothing to smoke. Or anything to make fire,” he thinks a little, “You know what? I’ve been waiting for this moment. The moment where I can finally rid my awful life of you two and have no one else know. Inside a whale is perfect… Heh heh. HEH HEH! AHAHAHAHAHA! C’MERE!” You fight him. Again. But you beat him. He says, “Why did I expect any different? Well if we wanna get outta here, we’re gonna have to… it pains me to say this… work together! Now come on! You still have those 13 tickets?” Plainsworth says, “How did you know we had–” “Don’t question me. Give me the ones you don’t need. I’m gonna light them.” “How?” “DON’T QUESTION ME! I just remembered I picked up a match when I was on my ship. Now give me the tickets, and I’ll smoke us out of here!” They do, and he does. They get blown out and land back in the water, right next to the Safety Zone. Kraner says, “Well… Hey, my ship’s still here! TIME TO GO TO BARNWELL!” And he sails away.

Plainsworth says, “He got away.” Mews says, “No he didn’t. He’s going to Barnwell. We still have time.” “We don’t have a boat.” “No, but I have a phone. I’ll just call my private helicopter.” He does. Everyone is flown back to Port Barnwell, and Kraner has just arrived. Plainsworth says, “Kraner. We meet for the third time today.” Kraner jumps off his ship and says, “Rockbell. Haven’t seen you in less than two hours. By the way, I appreciate you working with me to get ourselves out of the whale, but you do know that I’m still your mortal enemy.” “More or less.” “While I may have failed the last two times and the two times before that, I feel confident in my skills now. I will finally rid you of my life, and I WILL FINALLY BE LESS UNHAPPY THAN I CURRENTLY AM!” “Whatever. Have at us. We’ll beat you to a fine pulp.” “You wish.” They fight ACTUAL CHAPTER 8 BATTLE! You win against him. For the third time. Kraner says, “Fine. FINE! I don’t NEED to win against you. I just need to find some place to take over to fulfill my sociopathic needs. And I’m a pirate now. I can do whatever I please. So for now, my crew and I will be taking off to a place stupid enough to have me in it. Until then, so long ye landlubbers!” And he sails away. Mews says, “That man is strange.” Plainsworth says, “Yes, but I know he’s not gone. For now. Now where were we? RIGHT! Melanie and Yvette! Let’s find them!” They look around the port and eventually find Yvette. She says, “Guys?! I’m glad you’re here! We need to leave right n–” But then Melanie comes over and swipes her away. Yvette’s last words then were, “Guardian of Wish!” And she’s nowhere to be seen for a while. Plainsworth says, “Guardian of Wish?” Percy says, “Isn’t she a Banished Guardian though? Speaking of that, what does Marionette and Oscar have to do with Melanie?” “I don’t know. If only we could read her thoughts.” Just as he says that, he sees a sheet of paper on the ground. It says, “I went to the hypnotist today. Strange, I don’t remember why I needed to go there. I think that I may be p——-” the rest is illegible. Plainsworth says, “Whatever this means… Let’s show Slasher. And then, we go find the Guardian of Wish!”

Chapter 8 Interlude

Back at Melanie’s house. Melanie says, “Too bad our cruise ride was cut short. By the way, who were those people you were talking to?” Yvette says, “My real friends.” “Oh yeah, the blue one looked familiar. I—I… I have to go… to my room for a second.” She goes to her room and writes in her diary, “I am feeling the worst I have ever felt ever since Yvette came. A strange combination of belly aching with guilt. I don’t know what this is, but I think it may be from my mind. It’s been telling me weird things lately. I don’t know a lot about the topic, but I truly think I may be p–” But then she suddenly stops writing, stands up, and heads back to Yvette, not having any memory of the last few minutes. She says, “Whaddya say we go buy tickets to Moonview Heights? And then we’ll go see that fashion studio right next to it. I wanna have some fun with you!” Yvette says, “Everything okay?” “EVERYTHING’S FINE! Let’s go!”

Chapter 9: The House with the Raven on Top

The Rockbells head back to Slasher’s place. Slasher says, “So how was the cruise?” Plainsworth says, “It sunk, we got attacked by pirates, got swallowed by a whale, and had to fight Kraner three times.” “Cool. Anything that I care about?” “We found Yvette for a split second, and all she said was ‘Guardian of Wish’.” “I know where the Guardian of Wish lives, but I don’t know how easy it is to get to her.” “Where?” “The small town of Pine Creek. It’s quaint and friendly, but I hear ghosts are infesting it right now.” “Ghosts?” “Yeah, the mayors called a detective to figure it out, but I don’t know how well he will. I hear they got the least serious one, Lance Levine.” “How do you know so much about this?” “I get news. Now do you want to find the Guardian of Wish or not?! If so, then go down south and find her!”

They head down south to the small town of Pine Creek. They look around and soon find one of the three mayors there. Mayor Rhubis, the executive mayor. He says, “Hello. Are you the detectives we hired?” Plainsworth says, “No, we’re here to find someone.” “Really? Okay then. I guess our town will just be infested with ghosts. Who are you looking for?” “Guardian of Wish.” “Oh. Not too sure about that… So… since our detective hasn’t shown up yet, can you PLEASE help us?” “I guess. Just want us to look around town for the ghost and use some high-tech ghost-hunting equipment?” “No. Just look around the town and find out who summoned the ghost. We’ll take care the ghost ourselves.” “Okay. Where should we start?” “There’s been some weird activity around Nox Avenue. Maybe if you could check there first…” But then the actual detective shows up! He says, “HAVE NO FEAR, LANCE LEVINE IS HERE!” Rhubis says, “You must be our detective then?” “Yepperuni, Lance Levine: Professional Private Eye, I charge by the hour, so feel free to take your time,” He sees Plainsworth and the group, “Who are these?” Rhubis says, “They… we also hired them?” “FIVE DETECTIVES?! How efficient! If ya don’t mind, I’mma start my work. Start the timer to see how long it takes. I’m hoping at least 10 hours. LET’S GO! But where to start? HMMM! My awesome detective skills say to go to… NOX AVENUE! TO THERE! I am SO CLOSE to cracking this case!” And he swiftly leaves. Plainsworth asks Rhubis, “You’re trusting us more than him, right?” Rhubis says, “Oh definitely.”

They go to Nox Avenue. Lance rushes in and says, “HMMM! How perplexing! Most street signs are green, but this one is brown. Strange. BUT NOT MATTER! I, the great Lance Levine, will crack this case like an egg and make it into the delicious omelet that is my paycheck. There is one thing to do now… GO TO EVERY HOUSE HERE AND SEARCH FOR THINGS!” And he rushes off. Plainsworth and the group look around the street for any clues. Eventually they see another mayor and a strangely put together fire. The mayor says, “Oh hello. Are you the detectives we hired? No, of course not. We hired the chatty one, didn’t we? Still here to help though?” Plainsworth says, “Yes. What do you know about ghosts around here?” “Well coincidently I just set up this fire that’s supposed to lure this supposed banshee to this area.” Lance rushes over and says, “AHA! SO YOU SUMMONED THE GHOST!” The mayor, whose name is West, says, “Do you even pay attention? This is a trap for it.” “I see… No matter. LANCE LEVINE WILL KEEP SEARCHING! I have my eye on that house with the raven on top. Pretty peculiar if you ask me.” West says, “Why did we have to hire HIM? No matter. I think that this trap may be–” The fire goes out. All the lights go out. A strange scream is heard. The lights go back on, and the ghost appears. West says, “Well look, my trap worked. Whoa, look at the time, I have mayoring to get back to. Have fun dealing with this ghost. Toodles!” and he leaves hastily. The banshee screams again. Battle. You win, but it flies off. The last mayor comes over and says, “The banshee may be gone, but if my knowledge in ghostly runes and the Necronomicon are correct, it’s heading off to Quail Manor… You know, the house with the raven on top. Since it’s presumably trapped in there, you and the de-talk-tive can scout around town and find the horrible person who summoned it. As you know, ghost summoning is illegal in this town.” And he leaves. Time for a mystery.

Kennett, the mayor they were just talking to, says, “If you need any leads, I saw a suspicious-looking person back in town square. Actually, two suspicious-looking people. One of them was wearing a suspiciously big cloak over themselves. The other… I have no idea what they looked like. One angle it was red hair, another angle, blond. Really weird. Anyway, try splitting up. Find them and interrogate them. I’ll go back to reading my Necronomicon to learn more about this ghost on our hands.” Plainsworth says, “That man seems too weird to be mayor. Should he be one of our suspects?” Lance comes over and says, “He’s definitely on MY list of suspects!” “Gosh dang it, Lance.” “It has to be one of the mayors! They all believe in strange ghostly things. Rituals and such. PRETTY SUSPICIOUS TO ME!” “Yeah… you go look for clues with them. We’ll look for clues for other suspects.” “GREAT IDEA!” And he rushes away. Plainsworth says, “That man will never solve this mystery. But whatever. Let’s find those people Kennett was talking about! Heath, Flint, go find the different-colored one, and we’ll find the cloaked one.” Heath says, “Got it!” They split up. First, Heath and Flint look around. They find the different-colored person, but it turns out to be Kronis! But they don’t know who Kronis is, and Kronis doesn’t know who they are. Heath says, “Excuse me sir… ma’am? Excuse me individual, can we talk to you for a moment?” Kronis says, “Who are you?” “Heath Monnelley and Flint Grantley. We were hired by the mayors… technically. Know anything about a ghost summoning?” “No. Now leave.” “Why?” “Stop talking to me!” They fight Kronis for answers. You win. Kronis says, “Don’t hurt me! I don’t like being with people, that’s all! I wasn’t even HERE during the ghost summoning! It started last week, and Mayor West greeted me for the first time today. Now leave. Please.” They leave, and go to interrogate West about it…

Now to Plainsworth and Percy’s side as they try and seek out the mysterious cloaked person. They find them, but soon find out that it’s actually just Meridel. She says, “Ah, it’s you. What do YOU want?!” Plainsworth says, “Hmm… this actually makes sense. Since you’re a medium and prophet, do you know anything about a ghost summoning?” Meridel thinks for a while. She then says, “I won’t talk!” She then attacks them. You win. She says, “Fine. I will talk. Yes, I WAS involved in a ghost summoning, no, I didn’t PERSONALLY do it. I just gave the person summoning it the incantations for it.” “Then you know who it is?” “No. I couldn’t see their face. I just saw a hat and jacket.” “That’s good enough.” And they go to town square and meet with Flint and Heath. And, unfortunately, Lance. Lance says, “You’ll never GUESS what I gathered!” Plainsworth says, “And we won’t. So, Heath, what did you find?” Heath says, “Apparently, the color person has an alibi. But we need to get confirmation for it from West.” “Well we found that the summoning was done by a man in a hat and jacket.” Lance jumps up and down and frantically says, “Hello?! I’m still here! I got some stuff! I found that out of the three mayors, Rhubis and Kennett are innocent. Strange, I was expecting Kennett to be the one.” Plainsworth says, “Do you have any evidence for that?” “YES! It seems that the ghost trap actually had strange symbols engraved into them. According to Kennett’s Necronomicon, they’re ghost-summoning marks!” “Wait… that… plus what Meridel said, plus what Heath said… IT’S WEST!” They all scramble to find Mayor West.

They eventually find him in front of Quail Manor, the house with the raven on top. West says, “Ah, my detectives! And Lance. What’d we find?” Lance says, “Our results may surprise you. Or maybe not, SINCE IT WAS YOU!” “What are you talking about?! I’m a mayor. I enforce laws! Summoning ghosts is illegal here! Why would I do it?! Wouldn’t Kennett at least make a little more sense?” “I guess not! The signs couldn’t have been more clearer!” “I guess they could have since I DIDN’T DO IT!” “NONSENSE! Now we’re gonna get our justice system to… wait… you’re in charge of the town’s justice system, aren’t you? Whatever! We will lock you up for you crimes!” “BUT IT WASN’T ME!” “Tell that to the person taking your place as judge! ATTACK!” Plainsworth and the group battle him. You win. West says, “For the last time, IT WASN’T ME!” Lance says, “Then who was it?! I DON’T KNOW, THAT’S WHY I HIRED DETECTIVES! Now let’s not fight anymore. Kennett said the ghost is in Quail Manor. Let’s just go in there and get rid of it first. THEN we can determine who did this.” They agree. They enter.

Lance knocks on the door, and it opens by itself. He says, “Hmm… ghost?! Or just a really old house?” The door falls down. “I’m guessing just a really old house. NOW GHOST! BANSHEE! WHATEVER YOU ARE! SHOW YOURSELF!” A voice emanates from nowhere saying, “We-e-ell, it seems that master detectives—and Lance—have tracked down the ghost to this old house.” “It wasn’t that hard, we knew the ghost would be here.” “SHUT UP!” “Are you the ghost?” “The ghost?! HA! I WISH! Nah, I’m just its summoner.” “SHOW YOURSELF!” “Nah, I don’t feel like it. But you know what I DO feel like? Summoning a ghost to attack, maim, and hopefully kill all of you. Nyeheheheheh!” The ghost finally appears. It resembles a very dark-minded and emo girl in her early 20s. The ghost says, “Hey. I’m Angela. How’s it going? Y’know, I really don’t care how you’re doing. I’m just gonna, uh, like, do what I was summoned to do. So yeah. Whatevs. Let’s do this.” You battle her, win, and she flies away.  The voice comes back. It says, “Aw MAN! I was hoping she woulda eternally scarred you six for the rest of your lives! I woulda loved that. Ah, I suppose that’s fine. After all… it doesn’t really matter.”

The mysterious voice gets louder and closer. It says, “But you know… nothing really matters.” Lance says, “Show yourself!” “I am. For all you know… I could be right next to you. I could’ve been this entire time. In fact, I could’ve engraved mysterious ghost-summoning symbols on West’s trap. But none of you could have known this. After all, I am… invisible.” Plainsworth says, “Wait… Hat and jacket? And that Meridel said she could see the summoner’s face…” The voice says, “That’s right. It’s me. The one. The only. BLACKOUT! How ya guys doing tonight?” “An invisible man causing this makes perfect sense now.”
“Surprised ya couldn’t think of it sooner. Well, I mean ya could’ve, but everyone would just think all you are crazy! Which, by the way, I’d LOVE to see.” “So YOU summoned Angela?” “YES, I already made that clear!” “Why?!” “I love misery and pain. I did it for my own sick thrills. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some misery to attend to. But first, I can’t leave without a battle!” CHAPTER 9 BATTLE! Against an invisible man. You can’t see him, so it’s hard to attack him. But you can cause things to make him put on his hat and jacket so you can see him. After you beat him, he says, “That was fun. And funny. PAIN IS HILARIOUS! Now if you’ll excuse me, I must make someone more miserable than they already are. HAVE FUN WITH YOUR NORMAL BORING LIVES, NYAHAHAHAHAHA!” And he hastily leaves. The ghost comes walking forth. She says, “Glad that lunatic’s gone.” Plainsworth says, “Well now that that’s over, we still need to find the Guardian of Wish.” The ghost says, “You’re looking at her. Also, it’s the Former Guardian of Wish to you. I was banished for some stupid reason.” “You’re the Guardian of Wish?! In that case, can you help us with something?” “Yeah, sure, whatever.” “My wife Yvette was kidnapped by a girl named Melanie C., and Yvette told us to find you.” “Yvette? Melanie? Sounds familiar. Oh yeah, that lunatic, Blackout, is involved with Melanie somehow. And he said he was with someone else too. The friend of a hypnotist, I think. I don’t know. The Melanie girl came here a while ago. She didn’t seem normal though. But who am I to say, I don’t know this girl. All I know is that they’re now on their way to Moonview Heights.” “Thanks. And by the way, since you’re the Guardian of Wish–” “Stopping you right there. Can’t grant wishes. FORMER Guardian of Wish. Nice try. Sorry. Buh-bye now. See ya. Outta my sight!” And they are shooed away.

Chapter 9 Interlude

Back at Melanie’s place, she says to Yvette, “Good news! We’re going to Moonview Heights and Hacky Fashion today!” Yvette says, “Great… Um… can I ask something?” “Sure, what?” “Is everything okay with you?” “Of course, everything’s fine.” “Well, you haven’t seemed normal for a while. And… when you were gone one time, I was… kind of reading your journal… and… you seemed very scared in a couple of pages.” Melanie twitches for a while. She then says, “Please excuse me for a moment.” She runs into the bathroom and starts talking to herself in the mirror. She says, “She knows that I don’t feel myself. She knows that… I’m not myself. But I don’t know how this is happening. All I know is that my thoughts are not actually–” She suddenly stops talking and walks back in the room. She then frightfully and carefully says to Yvette, “C-c’mon. Let’s g-go to Moonview.”

Chapter 10: They’re Back

The group returns to Slasher’s place. Slasher says, “I’m glad you’re letting me sit here and do nothing while you do all the work. It’s actually pretty fun. I get to think.” Plainsworth says, “Guardian of Wish was little help. Well, she did say that Oscar’s friend and Mr. Blackout are involved with Melanie and Yvette. And that the two are headed to Moonview Heights now.” “Moonview Heights? Fun. I wish I could go, but I’m too busy sitting here and thinking to go to the world’s largest amusement park.” “Sure?” “Positive. I’d honestly rather be anywhere else.” “Alright.” “NOW GO! GET ONE STEP CLOSER TO SAVING YOUR WIFE!”

Meanwhile, over at Hacky Fashion, Kevin and Liza, from Chapter S in the Spirit of Corona Plank, are talking. Kevin says, “Hey Liz, remember Lexi?” Liza says, “Ugh. Don’t remind me.” “What do you think she’s doing right now?” “I don’t know. Probably being an awful employee somewhere else.” Their male model, Simon, comes in and says, “I heard she found a friend to work with.” Liza says, “She has friends? Who?” “Don’t know. All I know is that she’s probably just as bad as Lexi. Maybe even worse.” The female model, Naima, comes in and says, “What’cha guys talking about?” Kevin says, “Oh… just the person you replaced when we hired you. Lexi. She was awful. I’m glad we have you though.” “On an entirely different topic though, we just got a notification that someone’s visiting Hacky Fashion today.” “Is it my brother?” “No, it’s an Yvette and Melanie.” “Why does that sound familiar? Eh, whatever. Let’s get ready for the tour.”

Now, back to the Rockbells and others. They enter the large amusement park of Moonview Heights. The owner, Zak, comes over. He says, “ROCKBELLS! And… others. Welcome! Haven’t seen you guys since you saved our old babysitter from eternal subconscious trauma! How have you been?” Plainsworth says, “Fine, but my wife was kidnapped.” “Oh that was YOUR wife! Huh. If I didn’t know that, I probably wouldn’t have cared that much. So how can I help?” “Nothing right now. We’re just gonna look around the park for clues.” “Have fun. OH! WAIT! Remember Ed? Yeah, he wants a ‘promotion’. So I guess now he has the honors of working with you. It’s happening whether you like it or not, so here! HE’S COMING WITH YOU! So… now that that’s over… have fun looking for clues.”

They look around the park. But eventually, they see the strange boy back in Chapter 4! It’s Dylan Barney Britchett! D-Double-B! He says, “YO! You guys again?! What. A. COINCIDENCE! I was just on my way to the Sky Piercer ride. Supposed to be the fastest, biggest, tallest, longest, and most adrenaline-pumping ride IN THE WORLD! But yo, you guys are here! Lit! Want another battle?!” Plainsworth says, “Actually, we really need to–” “AWESOME! LEGGO!” You fight him again. Reluctantly. You beat him, and he says, “Man, you really do pack a punch. That reminds me, I gotta go see my sister over in Blitz Arena. Eh, I don’t think she’s playing right now though.” Plainsworth says, “Wait, before you go. Have you seen red-haired and green-haired girls come by here?” “Green hair? Man, not even I would go that far. But no. I haven’t. BUT I DID see a red-haired girl with a rainbow-haired girl. Now rainbow-hair. THAT is DEFINITELY something I’d do.” “Did you see where they went?” “Ah. Um… I think they went into the building at the very end of Moonview Heights Residential. Think that’s Hacky Fashion. WAIT, I WANNA GO TO HACKY FASHION TOO! So I will. Hey great idea, Dylan. Thanks Dylan, I know I’m a genius! See ya dudes later!” And he runs off. Plainsworth says, “That boy is weird. But Hacky Fashion? Alright, isn’t that Zak’s brother and sister’s place?” Percy says, “Yeah, but we don’t know them as well as we do with Zak. So I don’t think it’ll be that easy to get into.” “Let’s talk to Zak then.” They go back to Zak and ask him for permission to enter Hacky Fashion. He says, “Permission? Have you MET my brother and sister? EXTREMELY chill. You can waltz in randomly, and they’ll be like, ‘Hey, welcome!’ But I guess I should let them know your business though. Maybe you’ll get a special treatment.” He whips out his phone and calls his brother Kevin. He says, “Hey Kev. It’s me Zak. Listen, I got four people coming into the studio today. Yeah, you may have heard of them. The Rockbells. Yeah, they wanna look for clues about some kidnapping. So uh, don’t get angry if they start snooping around. ‘Kay, buy.” He turns back to the group and says, “Kevin’s fine with you guys coming in. Just be sure to introduce yourselves first. He also IMPLORES you—yes, he did use the word ‘implore’—to look around at their designs, give feedback, and maybe buy some stuff. So… yeah. Do that. Be nice to my other two triplet siblings!”

Meanwhile at Hacky Fashion, Kevin says, “I AM STRESSED!” Everyone runs in since this is quite uncharacteristic of Kevin. He says, “We have so many things going on today. We have those two visitors, we have Zak’s friends, our designs are due by the end of the week, AND MORGAN AND JUSTIN ARE COMING OVER!” Naima asks Simon who they are. He says, “The bosses’ girlfriend and boyfriend. They go crazy trying to impress them at work.” The doorbell rings. Kevin says, “SOMEONE IS HERE! LIZA! NAIMA! SIMON! ORGANIZE THINGS! MAKE IT LOOK NICE!” Kevin goes over to the door and opens it. The Rockbells and others are there. Kevin says, “Hel-LO! Welcome! I’m Kevin, and welcome to Hacky Fashion. Let’s see… you must be my brother’s friends. Yes?” Plainsworth says, “Yes. You must be Kevin.” “Yes I am. Please enter and don’t ruin anything. I’d love to stay and talk, but I have PLENTY of stuff to do. So… do your thing.” Kevin walks away then the doorbell rings again. He says, “Hello. You must be Melanie and Yvette, yes? Great. I’d love to stay and talk but I have LOTS of work to do. If you want a tour, see my sister Liza.” They go. Kevin tries to walk away. But the doorbell rings again. He answers it and sees Morgan and Justin. He says, “JUSTIN! MORGAN! I am GLAD you’re here! Listen, I’d LOVE to hang out with you, but I really need to get some stuff done. If you don’t mind, just go in the hallway and talk to Liza for a second.” They go. Kevin walks away and thinks to himself, _That’s everyone, right? Great. Now I can finally—_the doorbell rings, “OH COME ON! WHO COULD THAT BE?!” He opens the door and sees two unwanted guests.

He slams the door shut and runs back to Liza, Naima, Simon, Morgan, and Justin. He says, “Liz! BAD NEWS!” He hyperventilates for a few seconds. He finally says, “LEXI! SHE’S BACK! AND SHE’S WITH SOME WEIRD UNTRUSTWORTHY-LOOKING GIRL! If you need me, I’ll be the bathroom screaming my lungs out.” He runs away. Liza says to the others, “Don’t worry about it. I’m just gonna go get some people.” She goes and finds the Rockbells and the group. She says, “Hey guys. We kinda need your help.” Plainsworth says, “Does it have to be right now? I think I just saw Yvette in the other room.” “Yes, it has to be right now. My brother has been put into hysterics because of stress. Our old model—who was REALLY bad, and we all hate her, and she hates all of us—is here. And she’s apparently with an untrustworthy girl. Can you just shoo them away for a second?” “Fine.” They go downstairs and open the door. After seeing who’s behind it, they immediately shut it. Liza says, “Is it really that bad?” Plainsworth says, “You don’t know. The other girl is an evil mastermind. She’s insane, she’s diabolical, and she’s the daughter of the lord of payback. I don’t know how, but Myra is back!”

The door is busted down. Myra says, “You know, it’s really rude to slam the door on visitors!” Liza says, “Who are you?” “The name’s Myra. I’m sure you already know Lexi.” “Unfortunately. But who are you, and why are you here with… her?!” Lexi steps up and says, “She was looking for a partner in crime. I may have been tricked into this, but I like it now. Turns out we’re both surprisingly similar.” Myra says, “Now if you don’t mind, I promised Lexi I’d trash this place if she helps me destroy the Rockbells. And you know how much I LOVE destroying stuff. So get outta the way!” They leave. Liza says, “WHAT?! I am SO confused right now.” Plainsworth says, “Me too. But we can’t just get them out of here easy-peasy. Myra is one tough person. I don’t know about Lexi, but she seems just as bad. How’d you fire her last time?” “It was all Kevin, but he’s hiding in the bathroom. How’d you stop Myra the last time?” “It wasn’t easy. We just kept persevering. And we needed a lot of people.” “Well, seems like we need Kevin either way. Who wants to get him?” Nobody volunteers. Eventually, Justin stands up and says, “I’ll do it. I’m his boyfriend, I can deal with him.” He goes and finds Kevin, and then comes back saying, “No use.” Liza says, “Well this is just great. While we’re trying to get Kevin out of his stupor, the awful model and daughter of evil are trashing our place. Plainsworth, Percy, Flint, and Heath. Would you mind tracking them down and maybe just stalling them while we try to talk some sense into Kevin?” They agree. They go. But then they’re distracted when they see Yvette with Melanie. They then follow them, but eventually lose them. Now they’ve lost Lexi and Myra too. Great.

Meanwhile, the rest are trying to calm down Kevin. Simon says, “Ugh. I can’t take this anymore. Man, you’d think that me doing a little initiative and finish his designs would be enough to make him happy, but I guess not.” Liza says, “Wait… you finished his designs?! When? How? Why didn’t you tell us?” “You were too busy worrying about the boss to notice. I also did some cleaning up since a model without a camera has a lot of free time.” “We gotta tell Kevin!” They go up to the bathroom door. Kevin is inside saying, “You know, staying in here has gotten me thinking. Why don’t we all just flush our troubles down the toilet and stay in a small bathroom? We’ve got everything we need in here. A toilet. A shower. A sink. An unnecessarily large stack of read magazines. OH WHO AM I KIDDING?! I’M GOING INSANE IN HERE!” Justin says, “Then come out!” “I can’t because there is so much going on outside right now!” “Simon took care of most of it.” “He did? Hmm, remind me to give him a small but substantial raise. But we still have Lexi and the other one here!” “The Rockbells are taking care of them.” “So… it’s safe to come out?” “Yep.” He opens the door hastily and says, “KEVIN HACKY IS BACK! Now where are those two miscreants?” “With the Rockbells. Presumably.” “Well take me to them. I have some re-firing to do.” Meanwhile, the Rockbells and friends are trying to look for the two. Eventually they catch up to them again. Myra says, “Took you long enough. I’ve been waiting for this moment to crush you!” Lexi adds on, “Yeah, I don’t really know who you are, but I’m fine with causing more damage to this place.” “Then it’s settled. TIME TO PUMMEL THEM!” CHAPTER 10 BATTLE! You battle both of them. You win. Eventually. Lexi is winded, but Myra is still eager. She says, “I’M NOT DONE WITH YOU YET! I SWEAR I’M GONNA–” but then Kevin comes in. He says, “Time to put this to a stop. First off… Lexi, you violated our restraining order. I’m going to give you 5 minutes to leave. Unless you want to pay the consequences.” Lexi says, “Alright, FINE! I’m leaving. Jeez! I WILL have my revenge on you though!” “That’s nice, but I don’t really care. As for you, other girl. I don’t know who you are or what you want, but you’re going to have to pay for this damage. But… I AM willing to take the money out of Simon’s recent raise to pay for it. IF you leave this place immediately and never come back.” Myra thinks for a while. Then she says, “Fine. But I WILL have my revenge on the Rockbells! YOU HEAR ME!” She leaves. Kevin says to Plainsworth, “Sorry about that. I really am. But, uh, did you find what you were looking for?” Plainsworth says, “We found who we were looking for… for a split second. All we gathered was that she said they was going to some sort of fair.” “Fair? TropicaFest maybe? That’s a crowded place this time of year. But why would they be there? Well, I’m not a mind reader. Try TropicaFest and look for clues. If not… I’m sorry for false advice. And feel free to come back whenever you’d like.” They then leave.

Chapter 10 Interlude

Melanie and Yvette are back at the house. Melanie says, “Well our trip to Hacky was a bust. But TropicaFest is open this month! Let’s go there!” Yvette says, “TropicaFest? Isn’t that where all the hippies and hipsters go? Why’d we want to go there?” “Because I need to distract my mind.” She pulls in closer to Yvette, and says, “Don’t call me crazy, but I think I may be p–” she suddenly stands up. She then slowly and boringly says, “Yes. TropicaFest. We will go there.” She leaves, but Yvette stays for a moment in confusion. A second later, she feels a nudge pushing her forward. But where did it come from?

Chapter 11

The group returns to Glamville, and ignore Slasher this time. But then Slasher yells at them, “Hey! You forgetting something?!” They go into Slasher’s house. He says, “Think I’m just a useless and boring side-character who’s only here to direct you where to go but soon became obsolete after more major characters tell you where to go? Think again! I heard you’re going to TropicaFest, eh? Well I want you to do a favor for me. Take this book and get it signed. I.L. Jackson at TropicaFest signing books. I don’t expect you to know this book though. I don’t think it’s mainstream enough for you. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those hipsters. I just happen to take a liking to this book, and it just happens to not be popular. Alrighty? Everything good? Good. To TROPICAFEST WITH YOU!”

They head to TropicaFest. But first they need to go through Tropica City. Imagine a bustling city with lots of lights, casinos, and smoke. Basically a smaller Vegas. And you’ll never guess who they bump into there. “YO! IT’S YOU GUYS AGAIN!” says Dylan Barney Britchett as he sees them for the third time, “What’cha doin’ in Tropica?” Plainsworth says, “We need to go to TropicaFest.” “Ooh, good idea! That’s held in the place that isn’t smoky and actually a beautiful place. Man, I’d LOVE to go there! It’s free, right?” “Yeah…” “LIT! But first… WANT ANOTHER BATTLE?!” “Dylan, we really should be–” “LIT! LET’S GO!” They battle him. Again. You win. He says, “Boy, that was great! Mmm… now to TropicaFest… WAIT! I JUST REMEMBERED! People are allowed to go onstage and perform whatever! I’MMA DROP SOME FIYAH UP THERE! See ya!” He leaves. Plainsworth says, “That boy is… I don’t even know what to say anymore.” Percy says, “Man, this city is large. We’ll never find TropicaFest in such a thick smoky environment.” “I never thought I’d say this, but let’s follow Dylan. He’s dressed so flamboyantly, it’ll be hard to miss him.” And they try to follow him.

They finally get to TropicaFest. It’s a large festival with booths selling things, live music—mostly indie bands and singers, a calming odor in the air, and maple leaves flying everywhere. Way at the end of the road it’s being held on is a house. It’s pretty nice. Inside it resides the mysterious fiction author, I.L. Jackson. The author of the book Slasher wanted to get signed. There’s a boy sitting in the corner wearing a black hoodie. He says, “Hey you. Can you come over for a second?” Plainsworth and the group go over. The boy says, “Couldn’t help but notice that book in your hand. Is that I.L. Jackson?” Plainsworth says, “Yeah, we’re getting it signed for a friend. We haven’t read it.” “Oh. Shame. It’s hard to find someone who does. The man is genius, but his image is pretty underground. Sorry to disturb you. You can leave now.” They leave. But that boy seems a little suspicious. Someone from a booth says, “Hey buddy! You wanna try some Spring-Cola? Homemade.” They walk over. Heath says, “Spring-Cola? I thought that was recalled because it causes a smoky poisonous monster to appear.” “Nah, this is a home recipe. No smoky monsters in here.” They drink it. Flint says, “It’s good.” The man says, “Thanks. Feel free to buy as much as you’d like. Great to have in battle.” Just then, the machine behind him making the soda shakes. The man says, “Uh-oh. It’s on the fritz!” The machine bursts, and out comes the poisonous smoky monster. They battle it. But every three turns, it’ll absorb Spring-Cola splattered everywhere, giving it 20 more HP. You beat it. The man says, “Heh. Guess I shouldn’t make that again. Maybe I should try fried butter. People will buy that right?” Some of the soda splattered on the boy, and he looks very irritated. He quickly stands up and walks away. Plainsworth says, “I don’t trust that boy.”

They walk around the fair, looking for clues. There’s someone chained to a tree with a megaphone yelling at people. He yells at Plainsworth, “Hey you! Yeah I saw you! You were over in that soda stand! Sure, go spend your useless money on useless products that could rot your teeth! Real smart, bub!” Plainsworth says, “And who are you?” “I have no use for names! They don’t specify! Adjectives are here for a reason! Call me the green one!” “And why are you chained to a tree, yelling at people?” “This is the most effective way to get people to listen! Find a crowded area and just start talking what’s on your mind! And let me tell you, that dark-dressed man splattered with your disgusting sugar juice was the easiest to target! What did he call himself? Liam! Yes! What a terrible name.” “Do you know anything about him?” “Oh, I know MORE than you need to know! Hipster, emo, what some would call ‘edgy’. Believes in disgusting opinions. Said his mind has a ‘darkness core’ inside it. What does that even mean?! I could go on for hours.” “Has he done anything… suspicious?” “Suspicious? Everything he’s done, really. One thing that was really disturbing was he said he had a ‘strange encounter with an outdated wizard’. Seems like someone has been reading too many I.L. Jackson novels.” “Wait, an outdated wizard? That’s Taboo!” “Who?” “Nothing you need to know about. He must have been cursed! We need to go into his mind and stop him!” They run away. The green one says, “What is wrong with people?”

The group goes over back to Liam. He says, “Ugh. What do YOU want?” Plainsworth says, “Did you have an encounter with an outdated wizard?” “Uh… yeah. He gave me darkness in my mind.” “Don’t think it was him who did that. But anyway, we want to help. You got cursed, right?” “How did you–” “Doesn’t matter. We need to save you and stop Taboo! He may be behind this!” “Ta-who?” “Just lie down. Everything’ll be fine.” He lies down. Cole jumps out and they go into his mind. It’s a very dark place. Surprising, right? They walk around a little and soon find Taboo. Plainsworth says, “TABOO!” Taboo turns around and says, “AYE! If it ain’t Sparky, Champ, and the scientist I cursed. What’s good, dudes?” “Nothing. You’re here.” “Ouch. That stung. So uh… what brings you guys here?” “Saving this life from you. And stopping any other evil plot you have in mind.” “Evil plot? Nah, man. I’m here just to have FUN! I gotta tell ya. Cursing this dude was amazing! I literally made his mind dark! NOW HE CAN’T THINK OF ANYTHING BUT TERROR!” “You are weird.” “THANK YOU! Listen, LOVE to stay an chippity-chat, but I’ve got an author to curse as well! So eh… have fun with this Darkness Core!” He scurries away. A large ghost-like cloth appears. Giant battle time! You fight and win and exit Liam’s mind.

He wakes up and says, “Got no idea what just happened, but I am feeling great right now!” Plainsworth says, “An evil wizard controlled your mind. Now he’s after I.L. Jackson… I assume. We need to stop him!” “NO! NOT I.L. JACKSON! That monster! We have to stop him!” NEW PARTNER! They look around the festival for Taboo, and soon run into the green one again. He shouts at them, “Hey you! Wow, can’t believe you managed to befriend this old dingus.” Liam says, “Hey, shut up!” “Heh. Getting angry now, are we? This is a perfect example of why someone like you is bound to fail.” “You wanna go?” “It’s funny how you think fighting solves everything. It doesn’t, FYI. Peace in the world may seem impossible with people like you.” Plainsworth says, “Hey, green one! If you can stop making people feel bad, can you answer a question?” “I can. I don’t know if I will.” “Have you seen a pale wizard in white clothing with red eyes and a skunk-head?” “Skunk-head? Wow, that is an AMAZING insult! And yes I have. Said he was gonna curse an author who lives at the end of the road.” “Thank you!” “I WASN’T DONE SPEAKIN—they’re already gone. Our society is doomed.” The group goes over to I.L.’s house and enters. But before they enter, Taboo appears out of nowhere in a mysterious and cool could of smoke. He says, “He-he-hey! Back at it again with the thwarting, eh? Well you know I won’t leave without a fight! C’mon! I ain’t got all day!” They fight. You win. Taboo says, “Heh. Joke’s on you. Already cursed the man. My work here is done. I’m gonna go back to my abandoned belltower and ring its giant bell. See ya!” He disappears in a cloud of smoke. Liam says, “I’m confused.” Plainsworth says, “It doesn’t matter. He got I.L. But we don’t have time for him. He’s never been a threat anyway. We need to find clues about my wife.” “What happened?” “She got kidnapped. Looking for clues. Getting tired of always saying this.” “Well, ask Mr. Jackson. He sees a lot.” “Are you sure it’ll be worth it?” “Maybe. I just wanna meet him.” And they enter.

They see a man sitting at a type writer with a large cloud of cigarette smoke in front of his face. He says to himself, “This is stupid. Everything in this is stupid. What’s this called? Damsel in Distress? This is terribly written. Why did I agree to proofread this? Chapters 3, 5, 10, and 11 make no sense, and the entire plot is extremely anticlimactic. We don’t even get updates on the actual plot until the interludes between chapters.” He looks up and sees Plainsworth and the others. He says, “Oh hello. Are you here for my book signing? I completely forgot about that. No one knows about me though, so it doesn’t matter. How may I help you?” Plainsworth says, “Two things: Have you been involved with any type of wizard, and do you know about two girls named Yvette or Melanie?” “To answer your first question: Yes. He cursed me to make whatever I write become real. I hate it… mostly because it’s such a cliché. Luckily, I found a loophole. To answer your second question: Yes. They were outside my house, apparently trying to escape some sort mind problems. Interesting plot, but I can’t see myself writing it.” “Did you catch where they went next?” “I did happen to overhear a conversation they were having.” “Did they say anything noteworthy?” “Nice use of vocabulary. Yes. If I remember correctly—which I always do—the one absurdly dressed one who I believe had pink hair said, ‘Harton University. Oh, that reminds me. I did have one friend. We had a little club together.’ That’s very vague, but I guess Harton University is a place to look. Before you go, may I ask why you’re wondering?” “My wife was kidnapped by the absurdly dressed one.” “Huh. Interesting plot. Maybe… no, I’m not one to copy. Oh before you go—again—would you do one favor for me?” “What?” “I’ve always wanted to be in a fight to make my fight scenes in books more realistic. May I?” “Sure.” CHAPTER 11 BATTLE! Your battle and win. I.L. says, “Highly interesting. I must remember this.” “Wait, before we go, can you sign this book for a friend?” “Of course. It’s nice to have someone ask me for that. There you go. Have fun. So long!” They leave. I.L. says to himself, “Seriously. What kind of writing is this? They’re just going from place to place to get vague information that’s just where to go next. 2 out of 10. Wouldn’t read it again.”

Chapter 11 Interlude

Before Plainsworth was talking to I.L., Melanie and Yvette are walking around the festival. Melanie says, “Yvette… I’ve got lots of stuff that I wanted to get off my chest. Since I have you, I feel I can trust you enough to tell you. First of all… I never graduated college, and I really regret that. My professors loved me, and I was REALLY memorable. I didn’t many friends, but I’d always brighten people’s days. But I had to leave to help my brother.” Yvette says, “Where’d you go?” “Harton University. Oh, that reminds me. I did have one friend. We had a little club together. They say the club has been going on for more than 20 years, and the professors still don’t know about it. Me and Kyrsten would skip classes and go to the library for the Harton Book Club. That’s what the secret club was called. We didn’t read, we talked. I’m getting off-topic. Anyway, I had to leave because of my brother who was more pathetic than me. But I don’t know what came over me. I just… had to leave. I found a really nice and really cheap house in the outskirts of Mertzen Town and lived there. I don’t have a job… well, I don’t have a good one. I don’t feel like saying my job right now. Anyway, I didn’t have the best life the last few years, but you just always bring a smile to my face. After getting to know you after kidnapping you, I’ve actually forgotten why I did in the first place. But I’m scared right now. I haven’t been feeling myself lately. My mind has been all weird lately. I’ve been getting thoughts that… don’t seem like mine. Does that make sense? And I’ve been trying to tell you, but I never seem to get it out. I think I may be… possessed.” A mysterious voice behind her says, “It’s alright. You’re gonna forget everything soon enough.”

Chapter 12: The Harton Book Club

The group returns to Slasher’s place. Slasher says, “Great! My book was signed!  And oh yeah, you four are here too. So what’d’ya find out?” Plainsworth says, “Melanie went to Harton University.” “WAIT WHAT?! I TAUGHT THERE ONCE! But I knew PLENTY of Melanie C.s that attended my class. It was weird. Anyway, I’d LOVE to tell you ALL the secrets there. There’s a secret club in a secret alcove in the library. If Lucius is still the librarian, the club is still alive. It’s called the Harton Book Club, where no one reads books, they just get away from class.” “Wait, I.L. said something about Melanie in a little club.” “Most likely that. If you want in, go into the library and ask to see Lucius. The I.L. Jackson book actually comes in handy now. Show him the signature that I.L. signed. Lucius will then ask you three questions. To answer them, your favorite color is periwinkle, you need to immediately change your mind after saying no if asked you’d like to see other books by I.L., and finally, when asked what number in the Dewey Decimal System biographies are, rather than saying 900-999, you need to say ‘What do you mean? It’s always been 236.’ Got it?” “Uh…” “GREAT! Now go! Take this visitors’ lanyard so you won’t be confused with students. Trust me, you don’t want that happening. Take it off once you get in the library, since Lucius only allows students. Now go! Don’t stay up all night partying and drinking! Keep your mind set on important things. REMEMBER! Periwinkle, no wait yes, and 236. We will be SO close to solving this mystery!”

The group travels over and finds the campus for Harton University. And it’s a big one. Who knows how long it’ll take to find out about Melanie? They walk around and find a directory, then look for the library on it. They go over and enter. An old-ish man is sitting behind a desk wearing a nametag that says Lucius. He says to the group, “How may I help you today? Anything in mind or are you just browsing?” They show him the I.L. Jackson book. He says, “Oh… That’s his signature alright. Pardon me for asking, but what may your favorite color be?” Plainsworth says, “Periwinkle…?” “Interesting… Anyway, are you a big I.L. Jackson fan? Would you like to see some more books by him?” “No thanks… actually… sure.” “Hmm… and… one last question: What number in the Dewey Decimal System are biographies?” “What do you mean? It’s always been 236.” Lucius seems confused. He then says, “Alright, what’s the big idea? How do you know the secret passwords for the Harton Book Club? I have never seen any of you around before, so what gives?” “We have a friend who was a professor here.” “STOP RIGHT THERE! Staff shouldn’t know about this. Seriously, if Dean Acryman finds out about this place, I am gonna be in A LOT of trouble.” “Don’t worry. We’ll keep this a secret.” “Yeah okay. How old are all you guys anyway?” Plainsworth, Percy, Heath, and Flint say, “23”, “18”, “45”, and “44”, respectively. Lucius says, “Okay. You two… the younger ones. I’m gonna allow you in here. But you other two can’t come in. Because… well… just because. Go away for now. Pretend like you don’t know about this. Now go. As for you other two… follow me. Our group will be excited to see new members.”

They go down a spiral staircase to some sort of secret cellar. Lucius says, “Kyrsten, Jamie, Julia, Brian, Austin, we’ve got two more who’d like to join. Don’t take it easy on them.” He winks and then goes back upstairs. One girl stands up and says, “Haven’t seen you around campus before? Are you new?” Plainsworth says, “Actually, we’re here because of a friend. I’m Plainsworth and this is my brother Percy.” “Well alright. You’re welcome here anytime if you can remember the passwords. I’m Kyrsten, and this is Jamie, Julia, Brian, and Austin. But you know, we can’t accept you here without our initiation. She looks at the others and they nod.” You battle her and win. She says, “Very good. Welcome aboard.  So… what are you here for anyway?” “We need to know about someone. Do you know a–” But then a door slams open. Outside comes an angry voice saying, “LUCIUS! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!” Kyrsten says, “Oh no. Acryman’s here. Everyone hide!” Lucius and Dean Acryman walk down. Lucius says, “See? Nothing down here but old books. Now will you please calm down? No one is skipping class.” Acryman says, “What do you take me for Lucius? An idiot? A moron? I HEARD voices down here.” “You’re just getting old.” “SO ARE YOU! Now help me scour around for people.” He sniffs around and eventually finds someone’s hand sticking out. He says, “AHA! Oh, you guys are SO in trouble now. No use hiding! Reveal yourselves!” They all get out of their hiding spaces. Acryman says, “Well, well, well. Why am I not surprised? Kyrsten, Jamie, Julia, Brian, and Austin. And… eh… two others I don’t care about. Explain yourselves.” Brian says, “We’re studying.” “Without any books?” We’re quizzing each other…?” “Uh-huh. Sure. LUCIUS! HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN?!” Lucius says, “Why do you care?” “I became dean here to invest in young adults’ education so they can find a great career. So when I find people not studying, I see people don’t care about this, therefore, they’re wasting money, therefore, I’m wasting money.” “You’re getting their money either way.” “I don’t care. You five are to report to your classes ASAP, and are no longer allowed in the library for the rest of the semester. As for you other two. Are you even students here? I don’t care. I’m not mad at you. Do whatever you want. As for YOU, Lucius! You LET them do this. So YOUR punishment is you need to stay in the library for an extra two hours every day, cleaning up everything. AND YOU MAY NOT READ IN WORK HOURS! If anyone needs me, I’ll be in my office, playing with my desk toys and puzzling over today’s crossword. So long.”

Everyone leaves except Plainsworth, Percy, and Lucius. Lucius says, “Acryman takes everything in this a bit too seriously.” Plainsworth says, “Well this is just great. Now we’re gonna have to WORK to find out about Melanie. Do you know where anyone from the club went?” “Not a clue. But… if you give me a minute, I may be able to look into the students’ files if Acryman will let me. He won’t, but it’s worth a try.” Percy says, “Is stealing files really an easier alternative than just looking in different classes?” “Yes. This place is HUGE, it’s 5 hours away from classes closing, and it’s a Friday. Faster to do the sneaky part. Plus, I WANT to do the sneaky part.” “How about you do the sneaky part and we’ll look for them ourselves?” “Great idea!” They part ways. Plainsworth says, “Now where are Flint and Heath?” Someone comes over and says to them, “Flint and Heath? Professors Grantley and Monnelley? They just started today. Should be in one of the rooms in the third floor of the science center.” The person leaves. Plainsworth says, “Wait, we leave them for one hour, and they’ve become professors here?! Guess we have to find them now.” They go over to the science center and look for them. They see them in a door’s window. Heath sees them, and signals them to get them out. They go in and get them out. Heath says, “Man! You take your visitor’s badge for ONE MINUTE, and you’re automatically sent to a room to teach?! How does that even make sense?!” Plainsworth says, “You can complain later. While you were teaching, did you have anyone named Julia, Jamie, Kyrsten, Brian, or Austin?” “Yeah… Yes! Hold on.” He goes back in the room and says, “Everyone memorize what I just lectured you on for the rest of the class. And could Jamie please meet me outside?” She goes out, sees Plainsworth, and says, “Hey, you were in our club for like 45 minutes. Why are you even here?” Plainsworth says, “We’re not students here. We just need to know about someone named Melanie C. who apparently went here a few years ago.” “Melanie C.? Hey, Kyrsten knew someone named that. She should be with Austin in class at this time.” “Do you know what class or where?” “No.” “Well, I guess we’re gonna have to wait for Lucius to find their schedules then. In the meantime, do you know where any other of your friends are so we could ask them about her?” “Brian and Julia should be in their dorms noq. They’re pretty close. Lot G, rooms 213 and 217. Austin’s at embryology class now. Don’t even ask me where THAT is. Should be close though. We are in the sciences building.” “Thank you. You can go back to class now.” “Are you kidding?! I’m not going back there. The professor acted like he didn’t even know what he was talking about. But I’ll come with you. I wanna complain to Acryman once we get everyone else together.”

Meanwhile, Lucius is trying to sneak in Acryman’s room. Acryman says, “What do you want, Lucius?” Lucius says, “Oh nothing… Just eh… do you happen to know where those kids from the book club are at now?” “Yes. Now leave.” “Wait, I need to know because… well… OH JUST LET THEM BACK! They’re college students! It’s the last moment of their lives to have fun before they start their tedious careers! What, do you hate fun?!” “I’m fine with fun. But there’s a time for that and a time for learning.” “Then how about this? The two kids you didn’t know are actually visitors here, trying to find clues about the one’s kidnapped wife! And apparently those five you sent back know the most about her!” “Send me the two kids then. I’LL talk to them myself. As for you, get back to work.” Lucius leaves and sees Plainsworth and the group, and says, “The dean would like to see you.” But before they go up to his office, they run into D-DOUBLE-B! Yay… Dylan says, “YO! What are the ODDS?! All four of you are here! You guys followin’ me or something?” Plainsworth says, “Dylan, we really can’t talk now. We need to–” “Ay, you can’t leave me without a good old-fashioned fight!” “But we–” “LIT! LET’S GO!” They fight. Again. And win. Dylan says, “Whew. You still got it. See ya!” Plainsworth says, “Has he had any importance yet?” Percy says, “Nope.” The group then goes up to Acryman’s office. Acryman says, “So. I’ve heard your hear to find out information about a kidnapped wife.” Plainsworth says, “Yes. So please just let at least Kyrsten out so we can talk to her.” “Not a chance, bluey. I take this very seriously here. If a student leaves class for so much as a second, they are held responsible for everything they missed, and I will make sure of it.” “Well then can we wait until her class ends?” Acryman pauses for a second. He says, “I suppose.” And they wait.

Acryman says, “It’s gonna be a while, so get out my office until 3:57. They leave, and try to look for the other members of the Book Club while they’re at it. Unfortunately, none of them know much about Melanie as much as Kyrsten would. 3:50 rolls around, and they head back to Acryman’s office. Kyrsten is sitting in there, looking worried. Acryman says, “I took her out of class seven minutes early to speak with her about this club. Now please explain, Miss Kyrsten. What is this Book Club?” She says, “It’s something that’s been around for many years. And it’s technically allowed, since it’s being monitored by a responsible staff member, Lucius.” “Lucius is anything but responsible… But you make a good point. Tell me… what do you do there?” “Nothing.” “I find that hard to believe. I don’t need to hear anymore. You five are going to have to stay after and do a punishment for this.” “This isn’t high school, and you’re not being fair! Plainsworth, could you please talk some sense into him?” Plainsworth says, “Of course.” Acryman says, “I will not allow fighting in my office. Let’s do this out in the hall.” You fight and win. Acryman says, “That was a weak argument, yet quite a strong battering. Fine. I suppose if you are being monitored by Lucius, it’s okay. And it’s been done for years? Either I’ve gotten a change of heart or my head is still weary from that fight, but I suppose I’ll allow the club. On one condition. Tuesdays and Thursdays only, during no class hours for you five.” Kyrsten says, “Deal.” She turns over to Plainsworth and says, “So what was it you wanted to ask me?” Plainsworth says, “Did you have a Melanie C. in your club?” “MELANIE?! She was a great friend! I wonder why she left. Yeah, Melanie Cooper. Yes. We did.” “Cooper is her last name?” “Yep. Why do you want to know?” “My wife was kidnapped by her, and we’re trying to find her.” “Melanie kidnapped someone? I don’t believe that for a second. I’m coming with you and see who’s really behind this.” Acryman says, “Wait, I never agreed to this!” “Tomorrow starts spring break, Acryman. Learn the schedule!” And they leave. Acryman is angry and confused at the same time. But Plainsworth now knows the perpetrator’s full name. Melanie Cooper.

Chapter 12 Interlude

Melanie’s house. Yvette is sitting back, while Melanie is nowhere to be seen. Yvette thinks to herself, Hey, where’s Melanie? She looks around the house and sees no one. A mysterious voice emanates behind her, saying, “Your friend is safe with us. Don’t worry. Lay down and calm down. Everything will be fine. Trust us…”

Chapter 13: Cooper

The group goes back to Slasher with big news. Plainswort says, “Slasher! We’ve got big news!” Slasher says, “WHAT?!” “We know the full name of the kidnapper!” “What?” “Melanie Cooper.” “Melanie Cooper. Why does that sound familiar? Melanie Cooper. Melanie Cooper. Melanie Cooper. Saying her name many times doesn’t help. Hmm… GAH! I should know this but I don’t. WAIT A MINUTE! She was one of my students in Harton University. I never could have forgotten her. She was so flamboyant and memorable. And… she kept talking about her brother and—oh my. If we find her brother, he will take us to her.” “How?” “Let me think. She kept saying her brother had mult—oh no. Plainsworth, when I say this, don’t think we’ve lost hope. Don’t think we’re doomed. But her brother maybe isn’t the best help for giving clues.” “Well who is it? I’m sure it’s not that bad.” “Her brother is the crazy and delusional one we should all know. Denny Cooper. Or as we all refer to him………………………………………Dently.” “We’re doomed.”

Plainsworth says, “Do we know where he is?” Slasher says, “Luckily, yes. And it’s in a thankfully secure place.” “So was K.P.O.W., but he escaped that.” “SHUT UP! He’s in a more secure place. In a bed. With a nurse and doctor. In a hospital. In a mental clinic.” “Jelaatio?” “Yep, that’s the place. Go ahead and go.” “It’s pretty far away though, isn’t it?” “There’s the Binding Dungeons route. Takes you to any place in the country.” “But the closest entrance is in Dowty Hall.” “Have a nice hike there. Now go. Be out of my sight.” They leave to Dowty Hall. They enter. Chancellor Matt Dowty is sitting in his chair. He says, “Plainsworth! Percy! And… you other two spread that deadly disease, didn’t you?” Plainsworth says, “They’re fine. Okie-doke. So how can I help you gentlemen today?” “We’d like to enter Bidning Dungeons, please.” “But of course. Let me open it for you. Where you going?” “Jelaatio Clinic.” “Oh no, who’s hurt?” “No one. We need to speak with Denny Cooper.” “Who?” “Dently.” “HIM?! Good luck.” The entrance to Binding Dungeons opens and the group goes in. Eventually they arrive at the Jelaatio Clinic entrance. Plainsworth says, “I’m scared. Will Dently remember us? And if he will, what will he do?” Heath says, “Only one way to find out.”

The group enters the hospital. Dr. Jelaatio is sitting behind a desk. He says, “How may I help you gentlemen?” Plainsworth says, “We’d like to see Mr. Denny Cooper?” “Who?” “Dently.” “Oh him… Uh, yeah sure. I’ll get his doctor to take you there.” He goes over to and talks into an intercom, “Would Dently’s doctor please come to the front desk?” Plainsworth says, “Why do you call him Dently? Shouldn’t he be called by his real name?” “That’s the only name he gave.” Dently’s doctor shows up and says, “What would you like?” Jelaatio says, “Take these four to Dently’s room.” “Are you sure? His personality he calls Red is in charge right now.” “Just take them. And be careful.” They go up to his room. The doctor opens the door and says, “Be careful. He’s very unpredictable.” Plainsworth says, “We’ve dealt with him before.” They enter the room. Dently says to himself, “People, eh? New people. Familiar? Maybe. NAME YOURSELVES!” Plainsworth says, “Hello Dently. Remember us? Plainsworth and Percy? From K.P.O.W.?” “K.P.O.W.?! What does he know about me?! RELINQUISH YOUR SECRETS OR I WILL PUMMEL YOU! Or, ehhhhhh, you know. Just ask you politely.” “We were in K.P.O.W. together. You followed the escape route of us and the Crimson Wolf.” “Do I remember that? I don’t know. Me neither. Wait, it’s ringing a bell. YES I REMEMBER YOU! What do you want?!” “What do you know about a Melanie Cooper?” “Melanie Cooper! NO! None of your concern. Or mine. None of my memory either. I knew a Melanie Cooper… I don’t know much about her.” “She’s your sister.” “I have a sister? I HAVE A SISTER, THAT’S RIGHT! I’m sorry. I don’t have the best memory. Plus, I haven’t seen this so-called sister of mine in years… I believe. How do I even know you’re not conning me? A con? OH NO! GET IT AWAY!! I WILL SMITE THEE! No, calm down. Yes. Sorry.” Plainsworth says to the others, “This’ll be harder than I thought. We need to get into his mind and calm down this insanity.” Cole jumps out and says, “AW YEAH!”

They enter Dently’s mind. And it is a MESS! It seems every direction they turn, an emotion is swapped. Plainsworth says, “This is the worst mind we’ve been in! We’ll never find wat we’re looking for in time!” Just then, it gets a red tint and starts shaking. On the outside, Dently is in Angry Mode. [For the rest of this chapter until further notice, anything in italics will be real-life, anything in bold is in Dently’s mind] Dently says, “GAH! I HUNGER! NURSE! FETCH ME SOMETHING TO EAT! Or eh… take your time. I won’t rush.” Plainsworth says, “What just happened?” Heath says, “Well, as you know, Dently’s mulptiple personalities switch out randomly. So what happens is whenever Dently gets a switch in personality, we experience it 10 times worse in here. If it’s red in here, he’s in Anger Mode. Purple, Fear. Blue, Regular/Masterminded. And if we’re lucky, Green is Calm.” “So how are we going to keep him calm?” “We can’t. We’ll just have to trek through his mind and be cautious in any emotion that may kill us.” “So we have a quarter chance of being safe?” “Yep.” Dently says in Fear Mode, “Why are these people surrounding me? Why am I in this bed? WHAT DO THEY WANT?!” The mind turns purple and chaotic. Very terrifying. Heath says, “Fear. Great.” Just then, the large golem from the Temple of Fear from Corona Plank appears. Plainsworth says, “Great. It’s the guy from the Temple of Fear. Oh man, of course he’d be in here! Cecil, Neo, and Dently were the only people to enter! Whatever. Let’s take this guy down!” Giant battle. You fight and win. Plainsworth says, “Okay. Now that that’s over, let’s travel safely to his memories.”

The nurse comes into Dently’s room. Dently says, “Ah, finally! Food! NOW LEAVE OR ELSE! Or eh, just stay if ya want. Okay, seriously, let me do the talking. Thank you, nurse. Hey have you seen those four people? Or was I just hallucinating again? The group travels further into Dently’s mind. There was a shake. Heath says, “Gah! Must’ve been angry again. Good news is we’re getting closer to his memory. Bad news is, it’s getting a lot more dangerous as we go deeper.” Just then, Dently’s Fear self appears. He says, “Oh no. I better tell the others!” He runs away. Plainsworth says, “What was that?” Heath says, “One of his personalities. In his mind, they actually are separate people. That means there are four Dentlys in here.” They go further and find the four. Mastermind Dently appears. He says, “Well, well, well. Guess I wasn’t hallucinating. Or maybe this is just a really in-depth hallucination. Either way, I can see you. Now what do you want?” Plainsworth says, “Your memories.” “My memories. HA! Don’t you know I can’t give them to you? After all, I am just the personification of an emotion. If you want memories, you’ll have to get through me. And by ‘me’, I mean ‘US’!” The other three gather around. Fear Dently says, “S-sorry. About this. I don’t trust anyone with my memories except people I trust.” Calm Dently says, “Eh… that doesn’t make sense, but you know what we mean.” Anger Dently says, “NOW TURN BACK OR PERISH!” Plainsworth says, “We won’t turn back without a fight!” Mastermind Dently says, “Oh this’ll be interesting.” CHAPTER 13 BATTLE! He can switch his mood at any time. Different moods have different attacks. You beat him. Calm Dently says, “Ehh… You did well. Alrighty. Memories just up ahead.”

They trek onward. There is a large shelf of strange spherical objects. Heath says, “Those should be his memories.” Plainsworth says, “How do you know so much about minds? Is really what a mind even looks like?” “Plainsworth, I don’t have time for your nitpicking right now. Now let’s look around and find the Melanie memories.” They look around, and then notice that there’s a whole shelf devoted to Melanie, but it’s cut off from the others. Heath says, “Well here’s the problem. This man’s mind has been so crazy, the memories are all weak. And this shelf right here is completely powered down. Now how to fix this…” Cole jumps out and says, “Hey. I may be no expert, but I AM the Guardian of Thought. Allow me to work my magic.” He does some stuff, and all the memories are powered up again. Dently suddenly sits up and says, “MELANIE!” The group exits his mind. Dently says, “AH! You’re back! So you WEREN’T hallucinations! Where did you go?! And why do I remember so much now?” Plainsworth says, “We did some things in your mind. So what do you remember?” “A LOT!” “About Melanie?” “MELANIE! My sister! Very shy, but very friendly, but had not many friends.” “So you remember almost everything about your sister?” “Yes I do. I feel GREAT! I haven’t remembered things this well since that trial where they had to slap the answers out of me! Listen, I don’t know what you did, but I LOVE it! If you don’t mind, could you also get me out of here? It makes me uneasy surrounded by these crazy people.” “Are we allowed to do that?” “Yeah, I’ve been checked out since yesterday. Some weird person named Marion checked me out. But he never came, so I never left. But you can take me. I just want OUTTA HERE!” “Sure.” They leave the hospital. They now have almost everything they need!

Chapter 13 Interlude

The mysterious voice says to Yvette, “Don’t worry. No one is worrying about you. Everything is okay.”

Chapter 14: Best Frenemies Forever

The group goes back to Slasher, excited. Plainsworth says, “WE CAN GET TO MELANIE NOW!” Slasher turns around and says, “Great!” Dently comes out and says, “Come on! I wanna go!” Slasher says, “Oh great. He’s here.” Plainsworth says, “No, he’s better…ish.” “Nope. We’re doomed.” Dently says, “I WILL SMITE THEE! Sorry. Anyway. I’m here to find Melanie too.” “So you’re her brother, correct?” “Yeppers. And thanks to these guys, my memory is great!” “So you know where she lives?” Dently pauses for a second. He silently says, “Umm… Maybe.” Slasher says, “MAYBE?!” “Get off my back! I haven’t seen her in forever. I need time to think! Alright so… she moved away three years after that event… and then she said she’d be… okay… alright… OKAY! ALRIGHT! So! I remember where she moved!” “WHERE?!” “In the outskirts of Mertzen Town.” Plainsworth, shocked, says, “Wait, you’re serious?” “Yeah, why?” “Mertzen Outskirts, I live there. You’re saying she’s been my neighbor this whole time?!” “Guess so.” “Why were we not smart enough to check the surrounding houses?!” “You guys must be pretty stupid.” “I feel stupid. But… now’s not the time to feel stupid. Now’s the time to go over and find Melanie and Yvette!”

They travel over to the Mertzen Town Outskirts. It’s very barren and dark, for reasons unknown. Plainsworth says, “This is nothing like what I’m used to. Something must have happened.” A voice from nowhere says, “Oh yes. Something did happen. THINGS ALWAYS HAPPEN, MORON! This particular thing that happened actually occurred, and is MY doing!” “Why does your voice sound familiar?” “Why can’t you mind your own business?!” “Wait… isn’t that Taboo?” “YA GOT IT!” “Sorry, I was thrown off from the lack of outdated phrases and nicknames. So YOU’RE behind this?!” “Me? ME?! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! No. Wait, what’cha talking about again?” “My wife.” “Oh that? Nononononononono. I’m just here to cause some havoc. Speakin’ a’ which…” he sees a Dark Porcu and then zaps it. It grows. Not as big as a giant boss. But still a boss. You fight and win. Taboo then scurries off. Plainsworth says, “After him!” Heath says, “Wait, why? Didn’t we agree a while ago he’s no danger to our mission?” “He may hold some clues though.” “Whatever.” The follow him. They follow him into a darkened and run-down building. It looks familiar. It’s actually Crystal Temple! Taboo looks around and says, “Sheesh! What happened here?” Plainsworth comes in and says, “This is… spooky. But it also seems very familiar. I know it’s Crystal Temple, but the damage… it’s got Marionette written all over it!” “Marionette, eh? Oh yeah, I just remembered some stuff you might find interesting.” “What do you know?” “Like I’d tell you, slick!” He fights the answers out of him. Taboo says, “YOWZA! Okay, fine! He came around here a while ago with some sort of leather jacket and two random girls. Guess he decided to trash the place too.” “Where’d he go?” “The only house in the Mertzen Outskirts that isn’t yours.” “So Marionette and Melanie are working together?!” “Guess so. Well, I gotta go. See ya, slick!” He poofs away. Plainsworth says, “Well this just turned much more climactic. TO MELANIE’S HOUSE!”
